Looks like a warmed over v-rod. But hey who cares what the bike looks like or sounds like as long as you the rider are in love with it. Different strokes for different folks. That is what makes things interestin'.
Plummen you don't have a lot of kaws do you? I wish I never got rid of my 76 900 but hey I still have two ltds. I guess that is enough for now.
Have you seen the new v-max on the street? Wonder what that bike will do for sales. I hope that the cruiser market calms down a little and the retro bikes come back.

As a matter of fact I did see one of these just today on my way back to Ellis co. from Springtown. I thought it was a V-rod and his "wife" was riding an old Legacy. It looked really nice(custom paint). By the way I owned a v-twin once. It was a VTR 250. Everyone told me it had more torque but I couldnt tell it was a 250!!!B)

Speaking of the much-lauded Mr Patrick. A few years back some guy made a HUGE stink about NP stealing one of his headers (shipped w/o payment, subsequent calls, yadda-yadda-yadda) and copying it and re-marketing it. The guy basically made a web-site and challenged NP with a 1 million dollar bounty for NP to disprove his accusations...the guy went to far as to (documented) take a county sheriff's deputy to his place of business and confronted him (or something...it's been a while), found his header all cut up on a work-bench, NP no-where to be found, secretary making excuses, (blah-blah-blah...) Anyway, twins aren't my cup-of-tea so I never kept track; anyone here know anything about that little skirmish? Not to thread jack, but this guy had a LOT of facts to throw out there and it made me check-up and read it all the way through...(not much can cause that!;) ).

Anyway, I don't know either party so I'm not saying who's telling the truth...just looked pretty incriminating, and some of you guys seem to be on top of that scene. Straighten me out if you know anything.

I like the TLR 1000R. RC51, All ducatis.

The 1125r I did a test drive and a whole write up on before, I like it alot, best V-twin H-D has ever had! :)

I just don't see much need for a very heavy V-twin that is air cooled and has a seperate transmission- not a good design! :(

OK... whine about v-twins and Honda will come up with the ULTIMATE! Kind of makes those Harleys pretty? The 2009 Crossover:

Manufacturer Honda
Model Year 2009
Model DN-01 (NSA700A)
MSRP $14,599.00*

quote: Honda's stunning new DN-01 is in a class of its own — the world's first crossover bike. Styled like a sportbike, but offering Honda's radical new HFT Transmission, it's an automatic unlike anything you've ever seen. You can shift it into six preset ratios, or you can let it function as a stepless, no-shifting Constantly Variable Transmission, or CVT. The DN-01 is a perfect choice if you're looking to get into motorcycling or if you're just a long-time rider who wants to be on the most cutting-edge bike out there. unquote

I think this is the evolution of the V twin .. the V max.
4 cylinders with shaft drive. I'm not sure if I could handle the power though. This is only one of two yamahas that could turn me on, the other being the old XS650 parallel twin.

The new Max is lost on me. Just don;t see anything that flows or looks proportional to anything else. It seems as though it's the result of a committee or, worse, a focus group.

Hi JR,

Sorry Guy, but there's nothing about the V Max, not even the slightest, that's similar to a V Twin!

In the performance bike vein:

Ma Kaw made the KZ's

Suzuki made the GS's

Yamaha made the V Max, among many others.

In the V twin vein:

Ma Kaw made the Vulcans.

Suzuki made the Inturder. Later the Boulevards

Yamaha made the Viragos. Later the V Stars.

Honda is in a special class by itself having set up the whole Hardly Davidson admiration society with their:blush: Shadows. :X

KZCSI

Later: It was actually the Yamaha's Virago that came first ( 1981 ) and the Honda Shadow that came later ( 1983 ). Kawasaki followed in 1984 with the Vulcan. Still the whole mess is Honda's fault for choosing to name their V-Twin the shadow.:woohoo:

Does anyone need to ask, Shadow of What????
