Got all the stripes on and put a thin coat of clear on top to seal them until I get back from Canada. Sanded them down to prep for the last coat and then chucked them on the bike. It was then I noticed that I'm going to have to redo the stripes on the bottom part of the tank. They're not straight and it's easy enough to fix it now. If I left it like that it would drive me crazy. Too much work in this build to have crooked stripes on the tank!

Anyway, flight leaves in the morning so two weeks off. Will have some more updates around the 10th of April.

Thanks.
It's not too bad, they are the easiest to put on and now I know that everything will line up when I get it straightened out.

Pretty happy with how it looks. Wasn't sure about all the black but it seems to work with the splashes of yellow and polished aluminium.

Nice Build Calum! It's nice to have funds to play!
Is that your Z1 part collection for sale on FB?
Plenty of eBay gold. I had a good 10 years on eBay from 2000 -2010, before everyone bought a bike and dismantled it. Then the after market re-pops parts came out!
I sold out 2 years ago. I do have a couple more small projects I'm working on to sell.
Was a great hobby, and 40 year run.
But a Fine Classy Build!!!   And to think it started out as a spare parts project!

Marty in Buffalo, NY  USA
Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.
More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,
Old faithful! Points ign. Bendix Orig. carb.
Starts everytime!

If you added up the displacement of the two bikes vs. the 2 cars in the garage, who would win?

I realise you may be wet-sanded between clear coats, but (and I'm not at all sure I've ever said this before) that matte look is fantastic.
Is this thing working? Is this thing on?

Thanks guys!

@z1kzonly: No parts for sale on ebay. Have a few leftovers but I'm waiting until I finish the other build before I sell them. The other build is the actual spare parts bike, this one is definitely not made of spares

@Wheelhop: If you added up all three bikes I think they'd win - 738 + 1015 + 1075 = 2728cc. The Mini is 1275 and I'm not sure about the other one - I assume it's about 1.2 litre but it's not my car.

@Buzz Nichols: I agree, but a matt finish just wouldn't do the candy paint justice.
