So Saturday morning was spent cleaning & rebuilding brake components. Man, it was nasty in there!

Don't be ridiculous! It's only a flesh wound!

The Swingarm is officially on it's way out, as an aluminum replacement from a Suzuki is inbound from a member on GS Resources.

Brakes will have to wait until I find out exactly what wheels end up on it. I can recommend the 16mm radial brake MC from Braking. I have one on my bike & I like it a lot.

Thanks for letting me share fellas.

I know this might be a bit late but my Frankinstein GPZ1100 has GPZ900R front end. I used a radial GTR1400 master brake assembly (cheap on ebay) and the brakes are nothing short of incredible, on par with the Yami blue spots (for general road use)

First Permanent ride the Z1R since Dec1977 (220,000km) as of June 2015
Second permanent bike 1989 FJ1200 dyno'd 140RWH, great bike.
Third ride is now the Frankenstein 1981 GPZ1100B1, 1983 fully recon motor fitted LOVE THIS BIKE
Forth my work bike FJ1200 1989 (same type as FJ above)

Thanks Bozo, but I'm firmly stuck on 18" wheels. They are difficult to find & not very popular, but that's what I'm after. The OEM forks have all the needed parts for a refurb. It's just shop time now.

If you're stuck on 18's, the 1988 GSXR1100J model {last of the slabbies} has 3 spoke 18x4.5 rear and an 18x 2.75 front, they are a little hard to find but they are out there and would do the job well..

If your considering having your rotors resurfaced dont hesitate to send them to Tom at Trusdisk in Carleton Mi. He has done a few for me and I love the results.

The '86 and '87 also had 18". The 1100 are 2.75" front and 4.0" rear, and the 750 are 2.5" front and 3.5" rear.

Also, truedisk does excellent work.

Yes, all the early gixxers have 18's but slayer specifically mentioned 3 spoke, and the 1100J is the only one with 3 spoke 18's...;)

truedisk, indeed. Thanks for the tip guys. Never heard of them before.

The hunt for suitable wheels continues, but I soldier on with OEM for now. Forks rear wheel/axle handed over to my machinist friend who will refresh the forks & knock up spacers for the rear wheel in the GS swingarm.

Onward!

So this morning I placed another order with Partzilla for some more brake bits & bobs. Consumables & such. Ordered brake pads for the GPz & the GSes, also Mrs. slayer liked the radial master cylinder I put on the GS, I ordered one for her bike. She has stubby nubbins for fingers & likes the idea of an adjustable lever

I am in the process of converting to radial myself. What size did you go with?
