For wrapping the end of the loom (or even the entire harness) you may want to consider using F4 silicone tape. I have found it to work exceedingly well and to be much better than electrical tape because it sticks only to itself and not the wires and doesn't ooze adhesive when it gets hot. The link below gives more info. Ed

Thanks for the advice Ed.
Next time when I am in the states I will order some.
At the moment I am using self sticking tape normally used for satellite dishes etc.
For now everything should be working only for this summer.
Next winter I will take everything apart for powder coating and painting and then I will redo the entire wiring loom.
New watertight connectors, all in the nice sleeves like some parts already have and taking out all the cables not necessary anymore like the old ignition and other old stuff.

Thanks David.
More handy links for the final build next year.
Connected the battery and have everything working except neutral light.
Must be a shabby connector
Engine turns nicely, tomorrow compression test.
(and the oil pressure light goes out :woohoo: )

With a fresh battery plugs out and wot I got for 1,2,3,4 120,120,112,120.
Not bad for an old bike I think.

Started on the Dyna.

Hard to find some decent Manual with pictures for installing on a Kawasaki.
Problem with stripping the wires from spark plugs to the coils, I have the high suppression wires and don't know how far to strip them.
There is no metal inner core so I stripped them back to the black stuff and folded that backwards in the metal clip.
Anyone have experience with these wires?
Eric

Another question.

I have this rectifier I believe is form A Kawasaki Er5 (same as the wiring loom I am using now)
It has the numbers SH230-12 0,3 on it.
The cables which I made new connectors on where a little bit corroded but the units looks ok.
The questions are:
1. can I use this on a Z1000? (it fits in the wiring loom I am using but it was intended for another generator)
2. is there a way to test it before I put it on the bike and possibly fry my Dyna kit?

thanks
Eric

Ready for starting.....
Only missing one piece of tube.

Wiring loom is finished and everything is connected and working.
Find it hard to figure out how to connect the exhaust and fit a twisting piece of metal in the gap.

What about (To get the bike started) sliding the silencer forward a bit to connect it? Fit the Delkevic silencer for now? Bang out a connection from some old piece of thin steel ( Ventilation pipe/ an old paint tin/beer cans ) .
Youve come this far.Surely youre not going to be beaten by a few cm's of missing exhaust!!!!!

I am going to start it anyhow  with or without silencer.
I don't have a Delkevic silencer, only bought the headers.
Need to do some last cleaning of the tank and then its game on!!!!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationdid you not get a mid pipe for the muffler you have?
if answer is "no".
do you know which bike that muffleho was intended to be used on?
if answer is "yes" search ebay for the midpipe to fit that bike and see if you can't find some thing you can adapt.
