I had fork extensions made up years ago for a swap I did, I also had the internals modded so all the adjustment was still at the fork tops. You could have used less material for those extensions, they look real heavy, I used the same wall thickness as the forks... A lot of people seem to be paranoid about using fork extensions but they work well and are more common than most think.. Mine were made by an engineer that specializes in Race bikes. ;)

Looks solid.
Did you forgot to install something?
What happened with the paint? Fuel?

I have upside down forks and if you extend them the lower part will not fit anymore because the fork is thinner on the top side :S

Yes,I left out part of the rebound adjustment adjuster rod/stick/thing,from one of the forks.I had to strip the front out again and open them up.Luckily I got the right fork first time!! Still....Idiot!

Yes the extensions are a bit on the chunky side,I think theyre the first set hes built.I have to mark them to length and take them back to him to trim down and make a couple of tops for but I think Ill keep them over length to give me more choice. I have 5cm extra length before the bottom yoke runs up to the thin upper part of the fork.If I want (and a maybe something for you Eric) I could put a sleeve on the thinner part to get it even higher.For now,my clearance under the exhaust is a lot more healthy looking.

Steve,yes carb number 4 couldnt control its bladder. Leaked all over my super top quality(!) PJ1 paint job.Oh Joy!!

Thanks Rob,glad you like it.If you want to see it in the metal,Its been accepted for showing at the 2017 bike show in Utrecht. So,itll be on display for all to see from 23rd til 26th Feb. (I must admit,It feels a bit weird.!!)
Anyway,apart from that,its been snowing the last couple of days,so theres no way Im taking the bike out in this.Looks like the carbs and clutch are going to have to wait until the weather cheers up.I did get the extensions back and I anodised the tops.( I dont have the power to anodise the bodies.Same as with the clutch plate.) and got them fitted


(They look better in real life than in the pictures)
And,of course,now that Ive extended the forks enough to give better clearance under the exhaust,the front brake lines are too short!!!!
I had two seperate lines going from the MC down to each caliper,I think I can save one and fit it from the MC down to the right caliper then fit a short bridging hose across the front mudguard to the left caliper.

As I learned with my BSA if you change 1 little thing on the bike you end up changing everything except the valve stem caps before you're finished. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: Ed

Was afraid of the brake lines also, had them custom made and hope I do not need extension.
What is the clearance you have now and in the old situation on the lowest point?

Yes Leon,I think they are the best solution to a pretty major problem (ground clearance) I only wish I could have anodised them.Maybe later if I can find a bigger power pack.
For now Im concentrating on scrubbing it up for the show.I got a new brake line for the left caliper and fitted that today. Then I had a go at the engine paint.
This is how it looked after the carb overflowed.
and this is after a spray with some heat paint. Of course it wasnt a match to the original PJ1 that I used.(That would be too easy)Its a lot more grey but it is what it is and hopefully itll do for the show.
I also called the tuner today and hes going to sort out the carbs for me.Hopefully I can bring it up to him next week.
So,tomorrow, a lot of cleaning and some polishing,a wash behind the ears and a fresh pair of thunderpants and itll be ready to go and be ogled by the masses!
