Don't worry, you've got lots of little things that need cleaning and painting. That will keep you busy for a month by itself ;) You might as well start looking at bracing for your frame since you're going all the way B)

here is the kit...cheap when you consider it is pre-set to fit perfect..just weld it in and forget about it...

I second Craigs recommendation. It takes all the guess work and material fabrication out of the equation. Just sand off powdercoat and weld.

Joe and I were talking about the front end slant with modern forks...the gull wings are a great idea but beyond some folks skill level, pockets, tools,

the dual sport usd forks were a idea i was drawing in my head...but jamming a cheap pre-load inside to correct the desert riding travel of a modern big cc dual sport.....

then i got an idea...i am now gonna draw it and scan it /post it...take me few minutes....

sometimes the lowest guy on the totem pole in a project can see a solution the guys with masters degrees miss.....the laborer is not looking at the task with engineers eyes...he is seeing the jobs needs from the view of the shovels handle and his backbreaking task....

the laziest guy on the job can sometimes shine with pure intellect

idea for extending modern forks to fit the KZ1000 stance
to follow

I'm not saying this idea will work.....but it may flush out some input or previous attempts in this direction from others

I was thining that with Joes shorter stature, the lower front would be a help. Accompanied by an appropriate reduction in ride hight in the rear and presto! Joe can touch the ground while sitting on the bike. Reduced ground clearance...absolutely......but he lives in Florida. Not exactly twisty mountain road country. The highest mountain in Florida is like 200' or something...and it's at a land fill. I am interested to see your idea Craig...FWIW, I'm not an engineer, I'm the guy with with a shovel.

yeah i know..i think you think i'm messing with you and i am not ever...i like you boy

yeah he will want lower...but the seat is where it's at imo..dented pipes suck and bad handling is bad handling ...these babies dive hard when stopped hard...the nature of that heavy low slung kz tractor heart...imo

anyways ..lemme explain my day dream..the pic is edited into my last post above

i was thinking if i had a zx front end complete and pressed the KZ stem into the ZX (or any modernd conversion front end donor)

anyway pressed it in..plenty of work to get the tress sleeved to the stem, but that aside...now my stem matches my necks length and squeezes the modern trees to fit right....

but it lowers the bike onto the new fronts height..

what if i cut the new usd forks off about 3-5 down inches from the fork caps (clean pro cut) that would leave enough to slide into a pro sleeve of good and strong material which can be as thick as we need because it is in between the trees....then it could be as simple as adding inside a pre-load spacer to take up the new area on top of the suspension internals....this pre-load spacer could even have some type of trick abilities as the baby grows and builds along.....the forks could not buckle or have a week spot because the trees and stem and sleeve would be spreading that sheer load onto their surfaces....

i hope i am expressing what in see in my head into visuals...

This could allow a 1-4 inch lift depending on what size folks need for rim and fork drops to be recovered...and still have plenty of fork to slide into the sleeve to achieve a strong weld and internal overlap
