I put a couple things in the "parts washer" today...
They came out nice and oil free ready for media blasting. Of course I cleaned off the worst of it before doing this.

The stupid rotor is still stuck!!!
![ ](/media/kunena/emoticons/20.png)
I heated inside it a bit with propane. Then I used the perfect size bearing and beat hell out of it with the airgun and hammer. I'm getting worried about stripping the threads in it if I keep using the airgun like this.
what to do? Maybe stand it on end and let some lube soak in overnight. Damn the crank is heavy! like it's made a steel or somethin'

is it possible that your air gun dosnt have enough oomph ? maybe u could take it to a garage and let them give a shot with a high powered air gun ?

x2 What size air compressor are you using, and what size fittings/air hose are being used on the air gun? Maybe you aren't getting the most from your air gun or you need one of those big daddy 3/4" drive airguns to do the trick. I also wonder if the bolt you are using might not be too long. If it's very long, then it acts like a torque stick and limiting the actual torque transferred to the rotor. Maybe try a shorter bolt. I know I used the top bolt from the upper triple clamp as suggested in the service manual. It's only just long enough to do the job.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I love the dishwasher/parts cleaner thing. Can't tell you are single. Mamasan would have my ass if she caught me doing that stunt.

Nelson, was this crank ever in storage for long periods of time out of the crankcase? Also (it may be a long shot) but do you see any evidence of red loctite around the end of the crank, I'm wondering if a previous owner may have went nuts using loctite or JB weld  between the alt & crank on the mating surfaces for some reason. The only other thing I can think of is that the end of your crank could have been machined previously if the crank surface is somewhat rough and it has seated your alt on there pretty good. Hang in there, Doug

I don't think the crank has been outdoors and rusting. Can't see loctite, but anything is possible. I'm pretty sure the gun is cranking out plenty of torque because the bolt mushroomed just a tad and became harder to get out.
I'd really like to replace the rubber damper thing behind the starter gear and maybe get the crank welded, so this thing needs to come off!
