Sounds like my experience regarding the pipe coating...
Took three tries for the guy to get mine right. Settled for the last as there were still small errors. But at least the damn thing was covered.

This? Serious oversight and crappy workmanship!

I would make them redo the job as this is clearly unacceptable.

it (kerker)is sitting in my back seat to drive it over for a chit chat after work monday..he can just blast it and give me a 100 back and i'll paint it flat black...the guy is a hack...or whatever he wants..i aint gonna let him screw it up again...it was worse ..you'll see...than a can of dupli heat and me doing it....i am gonna take some close ups in the daylight this afternoon and post em to document , and show the drips and skips....front end today..sun is out...the body may even get here this next week...seat cover to install still

new brake lines next week ,and then it is all back together for a shake down month..oil cooler if i have time to order the nice lines, and some fine details then it is only riding till next year...

i want to get one of those bolt re-plating kits and work on a bolt here a bracket there in between riding it this summer,and maybe a powder coat kit from harbor freight o get all the little stuff right...
then maybe a engine job in 2012 unless i find a pumped engine before next year...

That sucks about the pipe! :whistle: Did the shop represent any particular product brand (jethot..ect)? If they tried to pass that off as acceptable, I'd have a hard time believing they can do much better. Get your money back and take it somewhere else. You can flat black it for now, but for the final product, you should get it ceramic coated properly.

The paint and stripes look great though.

so i took the pipe to the guy and said...look and see what you think...and began to point at stuff and roll the pipe in my hands

i started by showing him the sand/grit that was on the can by the kerker emblem,embedded in the ceraic material...he was like..ok???.....kinda could tell he was holding off on dissin his work...then i showed him the four header bends up top and the ceramic material that had gathered by their curves, drips that were hiddin, black gloss on black gloss in the shadows...he was like....okkkkk...hmmm...still not jumping to offer a re-do....i pointed out a few more flaws....he was like hmmmmmmm....so i flipped the pipe over to show him the 3-5 inch run by the colleter to can mid pipe and the big misses/skips......then i made eye contact....he was scrambling to get the pipe at that point and was saying things like...i want you happy...that aint gonna fly...sorry about that i'll fix it.....which was cool by me..i also said that i thought he was gonna do better and was let donw kinda..he said ...of course ..i want it right too

supposed to be done today......

bike weekend again no wrenches left in my tires to distract me...pics tomorrow...i even heard the body might be in route to me....

update ......got these pictures

sent to me today...man...i dont know what i expected...but this is above that by far...

it will be ridden...paint is too nice to let risk exposure...but it is to be ridden...not parked...

Edit: You should show the paint pictures to the ceramic coat guy. Tell him "You better step up yo game, son! This pipe is going on the same bike as that bodywork."

I hope that, at least by inference, your ceramic coater realizes that all of the defects you pointed out are unacceptable, even the ones he glossed over in the beginning...
