Pictures would be great Craig. I am of the opinion that the failing part/material is of an inferior quality, or is obviously not up to the load/cycles required of it in service. I have subjected rod ends to much more stress that a motorcycle shifter, and OEM parts on new bikes don't seem to have any problems, so there must be something else going on. Some pics of the failed part B)

At least you have a replacement. I liked those tarrozi rearsets, its a shame that part of the shifter seems to have a MFG. defect :(

Comprendo; Look great, but feel less than stellar after 10 minutes. Still, shouldn't be failing

I was working on some tid bits this evening, and thought I'd snap a pic. Just because. I haven't taken a full bike pic in a while. Not much has changed since the last time I took a full bike pic except for the battery box.

One thing I had to accept this evening is that I can't use the R6 rearsets :( The master cylinder mount doesnt clear the frame, and I'd have to space it out too far to make it work. So I'm back to the drawing board on the rearsets. Fortunately, it shouldn't affect my time table (as if I have one) for getting the frame finished and painted.

Here you go Leon, those tubing adapters showed up today :woohoo:

I didn't anticipate the adapters to be so long! 4" is alot of realestate at the front of the subframe. I'll definately need to remove and reinstall the right front sidecover mount, maybe the left; haven't checked yet. Oh well, whats R&Ring a small bracket for a nice clean clevis mounted connection? One of the few corners I cut, and LEON calls me on it :P There you go Leon, almost resolved ;)
p.s. you were right, I couldn't let it slide B)

I can't tell about the tubing adapters, but the clevis's definitely look cadmium plated to me. Make sure you have adequate ventilation if you are welding on that stuff. The vapors ain't gonna do you any good.

No R-6 rearsets? :(
Now you'll have to affix a new bracket for the contraband.

I know, I'm bummed about the rearsets too, as well as my contraband holder :P

The clevis's are cad plated, but they won't be welded on, thats what the tubing adapters are for bud ;) The clevis threads into the adapter which is welded to the subframe, and bolts to a small 3/8" bracket welded to the main frame. Simple and clean. B)

Top subframe mounts; The UGLY right side:

The BAD left side:

The GOOD replacement tubing adapters and clevis's

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the adapters tig welded to the subframe and the new frame tabs cut and shaped.

Don't know why I tried to stick in a Clint reference :P
