I'm using a 636 front end on my 77kz1000, will the 636's gauge cluster work on my bike?

Thats what i did to mine as well. i regret it somewhat. i did it so i could keep the rim centered.
it forced me to use a 170 tire instead of the 180.
I will try going back to the stock hub and fitting a 190 tire next time i nee a new tire. This will force me to run the rim to the right but i'd like to try it anyways. I just love the look of those big ass tires.
Again, nice work ROY.B)

Thanks Mark. :)

Its a pain in the ass that centering question, I reckon with this milling I can come very close (in fact straight on) to centering and still use the original tire...BUT, as we know, its hard to do measurement when the parts not fit together properly.
It all will reveal when its machined to fit.

And as 531blackbanshee says, he is riding with the rear tire a little out of center, and doesnt notice any problems.

Wonder if there are (any?) new bikes with a offset rear?

Saxjonz:

Thanks for liking my project. :)

I am using Gun-Kote, thats oven baked paint that will hold 300 degrees Celsius after its been cured in the oven.
Its curing time after I have sprayed it on its approx 1 hour in the oven with something around 160 degrees Celsius.
Its a very thin paint, and its also dissipate heat, that I think is very interesting.
Its a lot about it the previous pages somewhere. :P

Gun Kote and its uses:

1. Exterior of weapons (including clips) of all types from handguns to G5 and G6 heavy artillery.

2 Huh? Guess that is where it got it's name from.

So "when is a kaw considered heavy artilery?" jokes will begin to abound. I can think of a few brewing in my head as we speak. By the way those are some willy nilly gauges kick in the epididimus devious cool looking things. I really like your project.

I love the trick stuff on that site. I wonder if those gauges would fit inside of the stock diameter bullet style gauges. If so I would buy those for my 79.
Love the Indian influence in the sound. I could listen to that all day along with the sounds of the tabla. Indian music is some way cool stuff once you get past the whole foreign sound of 24 tones in to your ear :woohoo: instead of the 12 that we use here in the East. Check out the group the dead can dance. They have some really cool eclectic sounds and each of their cds are different. All are over the top. Too bad they disbanded. They KICKED it. The woman's voice I could fall in love with her from just the sound of her voice. Woo wooo woooo.      and forget about prenups and all of that. I would worship the ground she sang on and walk a mile on my knees through the worst terrain just to have a sip of her bath water.:woohoo:

Price on Starlane: $969.99
Price on Koso: $349-379.99
Price on Acewell: $119.00
Price on Motogadget: $570.00

I liked this version of the Koso:

But that Starlane was cool, also possible to put on an GPS...
Me like everything that is gadgets and wiring. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Me didnt like the price...  :pinch:

So are you going for the Koso you linked to then kano?
I am 99% going for the Motogadget.
I liked that Starlane, but the price was not any pleasant experience...

CW1201:

I dont think that it will function, everything on 636 is electronic.
New bikes have a central brain that runs everything.
It is so cool you can tune it up with a laptop and some 3 part software.
Thats why we need to buy these instruments.
(so what i say is that the bikes we ride is brainless :silly: :silly: :silly: )

saxjonz:

Kawa is heavy artillery,
I think you will find something that have the original stock diameter, or will fit inside.
I remember a band called dead can dance, from some obscure parties back in the 80 s...
Very special sound on that band. :cheer:

The KOSO and the Acewells look right, and if Acewell gets their 4000 on the market I think I'll be up for one of them. Great stuff here!
