Is your TL swingarm an "R" model or an "S"? Or does it even matter?

I ask b/c I've got a complete 'S' rear end and plan on using it...just thought I'd let you blaze the trail for me, then I can learn through you! Like that plan?

Mine is an R as well.
After reading about the fixes for 70's and 80's swingarms i jsut went ahead with the idea of picking one up off a bike that handled well to start with, and woudl not require me adding bracing to it. When I saw that Raynor here had foudn the TL R unit to fit i followed suit.
you can never have too stable a chassis under your butt!
Hurry up Raynor! I need more two wheeled porn!

Skinthead - Sorry if this question is posted in the wrong thread or whatever. I'm still trying to work my way around this great forum and couldn't figure out how to contact you.
I read you are considering using a single-sided s/arm. I want to do the same thing on a future project, after I finish my "old school superbike".
Do you have a particular s/arm in mind? I own a Triumph Sprint ST and looked at the possibility of adapting that type s/arm to the KZ but it is quite a bit wider at the pivot than the KZ frame(sorry I didn't get dimensions). It looks like some machining and new bushings might allow it to work. Again, just a guess.
Maybe there is someone out there that has installed a s-side s/arm and can enlighten us. The key for me is keeping costs reasonable. (I have too many other projects to feed).

As far as the single sided swingarm goes....where there is a will, a welder, and a machine shop....there is a way...lol.
I gave upt he idea after talking to a friend of mine in the UK who builds frames. he said most of the factory single sided units are very very heavy, and the flex can be a bit of a pain to work around as well. I am trying to remove weight...lol....not put it back on. I even have me on a bit of a diet.
the braces double sided units are the way to go. Light, sturdy, and already set up for a mono-shock arrangement. Stay awy fromt he TL shocks and seperate damper though as the damper unit overheats in spirited riding.....with uncomfortable results as i have read. A GSXR unit will be made to work with mine.....

I think a TL swing, or similar is the right way to go, but, as mentioned, a cutting grinder an a welder can do whatever with a singel swing to make fit.
These days I will move in my new "garage".
So hopefully around new year I will be able to produce kawa again
Her is one of ceiling lamps, -->LED<-- power use is 1.35watt.

The kawagreen metal plate is there for cool down the lightning, LED can be hot when on for a while.
