June '07 - Lots of work done in the past month. Setting up the bike to get rake between 24-25 degrees. 18" wheels, tires and some tasty 15" Works shocks found on Ebay give me the rake number I want (24.5 degrees). Trail is just over 4” with the KZ650 clamps I'm using. This should make it turn!

I’ve started bracing the frame and modifying the rear section of the frame, which will have an upturned hoop. I’m doing all the fab work with my buddy Dustin. He’ll be welding everything up since I can’t weld for shit (working on it). For now all the bracing and the rearset hoops are just tacked on.

Cut down the sprocket cover to the bare minimum, leaving everything exposed. I can actually change the sprocket without taking it off. Neat. Made a shift linkage on the lathe. You can see the kickstand fouls the shift lever. This will be addressed once the motor's out of the frame.

The shouldered rim in the back is too narrow with the low profile tire I want (140/70 BT45), it pinches the profile (you can see it in the pic). I'll have to break down and lace up yet another wheel this time a 3.50 non-shouldered rim.

Steering stop plate fixed. I'll cut a fat piece of round stock for the stop. Steering stops on the lower tree will be made adjustable.

Still June. I spend too much time on Ebay but it pays off... I win an old beat up Yosh pipe for cheap! It's a little bashed in on the bottom and is missing the mounting ring on header#1. I cut one on the lathe and Dustin welds it on. It'll do for now.
I buy a nasty caliper and a nice bracket to mount the right hand caliper. The powder coating on the bracket is very good. Pain in the ass to take off, really. Everything will be bead blasted to a bare aluminum finish.

Wow.... I really like the idea of taking period correct stuff and making it look completely bad ass. That shot of the rolling chassis tis a beautiful thing.

Thanks man, it gets better! The next thing we braced was the swingarm. A little tricky with the chain clearance but it came our nice.

Rear hoop done. We'll weld on a tab on the top with a weld nut so it will hold down the seat.
