Dave you're naughty the angle of the picture is different (I've never seen a sprocket where the mountings are not on the centre axis unless there is three bolts) have these cams previously been run as a conversion in an earlier engine (left one is marked up as Z1000)
I can't say "never" about Kawasaki
Kittywampus indeed, but "kawiwampus" for sure
The holes are not aligned which prevents inverted installation, and tooth alignments vary as well.

Swapping sprockets is a thing...
I'll probably leave that rabbit hole alone, and stick with the stock configuration for now.

How many degrees? Depends on how many teeth the cam sprocket has.
It's a qiuck and dirty way of altering cam timing.

I need solid advice for what to do with the center o-ring channel. Do I leave it open (recommended by Cometic) or fill it with an RTV sealant (recommended by Wiseco and MRE).

I fill it with RTV
My concern is with the adhesive face layer of the MLS gasket not bonding properly if any sealer gets on the aluminum deck surface and isn't 100% removed.
Might be smart to mask the deck surface before the sealant goes in. Then cut the sealant flush to the tape face with a razor blade before the masking is removed. This leaves a thin-narrow ridge of cured sealant for the MLS gasket to press against, which should aid resistance to oil intrusion from the adjacent oil gallery.
Requesting additional advice please
Still debating this. Seal the groove, or not. Hmmm.
Cometic engineered the MLS gasket that they manufacture, so I don't believe they would mislead a customer with erroneous instructions.

So I picked these little gems up last night and as a bonus got to meet another member of "our little family" Ian (the buelligan). Ian is a great guy with an unbelievable toy box that he was good enough to let me see. First thing as you go in the door was a freash built Z1 turbo motor on a pallet oh and the "short motor" next to it is a 1327 then to a pair of turbo early Z's (one under a cover) and Ian's latest build (which will be a future BOTM for sure) a lowered and stretched turbo with nitrous and a "who's who" of top end parts front to rearHey Wookie58, Congratulations on your find!

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Those look like longer duration cams and I wonder what the lift is. There's some J cams and GPZ 1100 cams on eBay now cheap. One ad says they are interchangeable and I wonder if that's true?
Just scored some Andrews 2X cams for $175 plus shipping. Seems the guy was playing games with the best offer tab but more of that story in my thread. We'll see what I get and I was able to nail down the price when I asked him what his bottom price would be. He said $175 plus shipping then the games began. One call to eBay and this morning I was notified they are being shipped. Same guy I bought the coils from last week. It's a game, I know it, he knows it, we all know it and with a little tact it can work out.
BTW there were 6 watchers on this item.
