That is some hefty bar. I'd think it would take more than 2 tonne to deflect/deform that. Got a car jack? test a piece. Your welding looks on the money too.
Watching with interest as i have a fz6r shock cantilever conversion in mind and bar V rod means more space.

tidy bike so far... kudos.

Hey racer,
Yeah, I dont know...it feels really solid, the bar is 10 mm solid metall and the ears 6 mm.
Cant imagen it to bend but I might reinforce some more.

ANYWAY...a small mod was made today:

This dont feel so retro: :(

Mark it up:

Cut it out:

Put in some steel:

And we are back to retro again !

Nice detail on that corner there! I saw it earlier and it took me a bit to realize what was going on. Looks nice and clean this way, good work.

Update: Under tail pipes !

I just love these old mufflers so I decided to use them for his build.

Did some mock up and this is the look I´m going for:

Welded on some brackets to the mufflers:

Flipped the bike to do some pipe work:

Want the down pipes to be parallell to eachother:

And need the pipes to squeez between the engine and the swing:

And this is how they come out (down):

Started to make pipework to connect it up:

Now I´m waiting for a sharp 110 degree bend to sort the last bit

Very nice! The whole bike looks so good! Any reason for having the down pipes parallel? Seems to interfere with the oil filter. Pipes look good parallel though.

Thanx Blue,

Nah..the down pipes are just arranged like that for looks. Will make the pipes quick "snap off" with springs to get to the filter eazy.

Things you do just for the look :P

looking good arnold!!!!!!!!!!

i like the way you finished the chopped off corner.
so many people just chop it off and cap it.
it looks sooo much better if you fit some bent tubing in there and finish the weld out, like you did.good job sir!

I know that you have the best intentions mate. :)
It´s good to have someone raising a finger to be aware.
Have thoughts to weld in a cross section to make the flat bar into a T-section, to (as you say) increase torsion strenght. Or even one at the lower end so the section will be like a 90 degrees flipped H-section.

I think this is a great idea too. there r incredible forces at work here.
May the force be with u. :)

u also have great vision. i love this look.

make sure u have a positive stop in there some how so the wheel cant hit the pipes. i have seen a few things destroyed by this oversite.
Keep up the great work. B)
