Did you make those brackets? That is the exact same conversion I want to do on my GPZ. I already have the calipers.

Now that's what I'm talking about! That looks great! Where did you get the caliper brackets? I would love to do something just like that.

That is just a perfect solution. That's all I'm looking for is somebody who can make a bracket to adapt late model calipers to the stock rotors. Then I could work on getting the EBC brake rotors. That whole set up would be much less than $1100 for sure. Used calipers are on eBay all the time for very reasonable prices. Maybe if I select a caliper like Harvey posted, I could mock up a bracket since the fit looks to be very close to the factory caliper anyway. It looks like it even shares the top mounting location. You'd just have to pivot the caliper to where you want it and mark it.

Just realized that there might be a major problem with that brake set up. If I understand correctly, for a brake system to work properly, either the rotor or the caliper has to "float". Our KZ rotors do not float, but the calipers do (they slide side to side when mounted on the forks).

In the set up shown, it appears that the ZX-7 calipers are solid-mounted onto the bracket. If neither the rotor nor the caliper is floating, wouldn't that create some problems? Hopefully you guys can help me understand this.

Those calipers DO "float". They are in rubber lined pistons and can go side to side. You can see one of the rubber lined sliders at the bottom right. It is that small black "nipple". The second one is the little dome at the top.

That bracket looks great! And thanks very much for the information on the calipers. The fact that they do float is great news. Project back on!

I checked eBay and those things are everywhere and pretty cheap. Do you guys run the stock KZ master cylinder or do you recommend going with a ZX-7 unit?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI have a MC that I bought on eBay from a guy in Florida because the MC that I had was from a CSR and would not work due to the angle of the mount. This is the one I bought.

Maybe a set of these calipers would work also. They are on a steel carrier, perhaps that would be easy to modify to relocate them. It might be a visually clean set-up, since you just use the two original caliper mounting bolts.

These are on a '90 ZR550 (Zephyr), most likely they are used on other Kaws also:

Yea, those look good. Like you said, I'd only have to modify the mounting bracket instead of making a new one. I'll have to look for some of those. Thanks

I've heard good things about 4 piston calipers with different sized pistons. This drastically reduces noise and chatter. Don't think I've ever seen them on a bike before.

Interesting...I was wondering why they were different sizes.
