The tapered bars (Answer Pro Tapers, Renthal FatBar...)are 1 1/8" at the clamp and taper to 7/8" at the controls. These bars do not have the crossbar and utilize changing wall thickness and large diameter for strength. The 7/8" mount bars are uniform/symetrical with the crossbar for strength.
Personally, I favor the 1 1/8" clamps. If you're going to run Bens triple clamps and the associated forks, you AREN'T going for the classic look

I'd like an answer to that as well Will.
i have motocross now, just for the looks. i think my superbike bars were a little more comfy though. i would love to see a GOOD pic with fatty bars. Does any one have a good pic?
