The green and black only determine which coil triggers which plugs, I would pull the plug leads and put a plug in the lead and rest it on the engine so you can see if it sparks

If I heard correctly? The up off position no click. Turn to the run and dash lights dim slightly, no click. Then switched to the lower off you hear a click. Is this correct?

ok @ wookie58
with the left yellow coil wire disconnected the neutral light doesn't dim.
with the right yellow disconnected the neutral light STILL DIMS!

Ok so now with both wires disconnected from the left coil, switch your meter to resistance and measure from the positive terminal on the left coil to the mounting lug of the left coil (it sounds like a short in the left coil bringing everything down)

Dimming of the neutral light is just an indication the coils are adding a draw to the battery, normal on a battery not in fully charged state. The click is an indication of a device either getting power on loosing power. I’m going to guess it’s loosing power and in the run position it an added draw knocking your coil voltage down. Just a guess. Try ti find the source of the click. It can only be a hazard or turn signal relay. I can’t think of anything OEM that would cause that. You may have to start unplugging connectors till we source the problem. Don’t do that now, first find the source of the click.

Hi Mikaw, get what you are saying but it is strange only one coil effects the dash light and it's the same one that showed an excessive volt drop in an earlier test ?

@wookie and Mikaw and all you others, I appreciate everyones help.
@ Wookie58 when you say switch to resistance? Ohms? I am not sure which setting on the meter

Yes ohms, there should be no continuity between the positive terminal and the mounting lug (centre core) if there is then the points can't switch off the primary winding which means no spark from the secondary winding. Do the same check on the right coil with it disconnected if your reading is anything other than "infinity"

Brake light out warning relay. It’s solid state so it won’t click. If your brake light goes out the dash brake light will glow constantly
