Small air filter (vents)

One of our members bought some of these for his air box. I decided to try them too. I started this thread so I wouldn't take up too much of his thread. I may be jetting after this so it could be a long one. Maybe not.

Cool.

It'll be nice to see if it helps.

Here's the clip. I'll check my plugs in the morning and after I go into town.

Some members of the ZRX Owners Association tried those but that was over 10 years ago and I forget what were the adjustments needed or the results.

Mine are VM 33 carbs instead of 28's. The KZ 900's had 26's. Using a air box with them is unusual but that's normal for me.

I know. I may not have to rejet. If I do, not by much.

It was running a little lean. I could tell by the exhaust note and it started burning a little oil. I put the 70's back in. It's going to be in the 100's soon, the last thing I need is to run it too lean and overheat it,

The cam doesn't do the bike justice. Audio sucks. The valve train sounds better and the exhaust has a kinda turbine sound when it's cruising in top gear. I've had it that way before but I keep FKing with it. Had that peanut butter color on the plugs but I keep trying to lean it out and have to start over. The vents seem to help and I have the needles set on the second clip. I'll run it for a while then try to go back to the center position. I'll keep track of my MPG too. They say the 33's were hard to tune, I think they're right.
Steve

I should have waited a few more seconds to pass but they did away with most of the passing lines out here. WHAT MORON ORDERED THAT?

I'm not liking how it acts in the wind or on my trip. I'll buy some 1" plugs and block off some a couple at a time.

Hmmm... I noticed today, way out on the freeway in the NE flat lands of Colorado ,.... cruising too fast at about 85-90 that if I held my knees tight to the tank and around my outboard pods, the engine/bike feels normal but when I open up my knees the engine has a slight burble/surging feeling and the rpm drops a tiny bit (I can lock my twist grip throttle)... slow the bike down to 65-70 and it doesn't matter what my knees are doing. The engine is running fine.
I might break down, dump the pods and put my air box back on with some leaner carb parts if needed....
