Pulled the leaking valve and did a quick lap and it looks like it's bent but there's no sign's of it hitting anything.
Piston dome does not have any kind of mark on it and the valve has no mark's.

1980 KZ650 F1

VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.

Steve I don't think so maybe if it was an exh. valve the intake valve's run a lot cooler.

Anyways dug out the spare head stole a valve out of it to use lapped it in the head I'm running
and got a perfect seal now to lap the rest and order a head and base gasket.

Yeah, you're running relatively mild cams, yes? Good to have spares. B) I still have my old valves just in case. The Doremi vaves are lighter so I didn't know what to expect from them. So far so good. :whistle:

Steve the cams are stock ZX750A1 better known as the 83 GPz750 their the best factory cams for the small four's.

Head's all done ready to go, did a light hone on the cylinder's, Gasket's get here I'll but it back together
next week.
Gonna do a test fit and see if I can leave the base gasket out to bump the comp. a bit.
If the piston don't stick out the cylinder I'm good right

I thought you had a mild overbore or something being you're shifting so high. Without the base gasket you gain 2mm?
Maybe I shoulda done that. :unsure:

One shim short of getting the valve's adjusted.
I've got about two dozen extra shim's and need one one size thinner then my thinnest for the intake valve I replaced.
Gointg to take the head to work tomorrow and pull the valve and tip the stem that'll put it in the range of shim's I have.

Motor's back together and went for a test ride last night all seems good to go.
I did make some jetting changes and it didn't like the bigger pilots so I'll pull the carbs and put the pilots I had in it back in.

Did you go to 25 pilots and back to the 22.5s ? ....... If I dig my 29s out and fresh in them up I'm planning on trying 20s up from the 17.5s I've ran for years...... air screws out around 3/4 a turn sound about right to start with ?

Those piston skirts still look like new.... I've been imagining a lot of the little lines being worn away on mine while they break in but I guess and hope not. ;)

Just got back from the track had a blast was a great event for a first time event.

Ended up with a new personal best time of 7.18 from a 7.34 best time.
I'm tried I'll get a full report later today.
