Today I got the tail and side cover's painted tanks almost ready
ran out of daylight waiting on spot putty to dry.
Built new adjustable foot peg's and got the rest put back together.



1980 KZ650 F1
ZX750A1 motor.
Wiseco 810cc kit.
Zukiworks racing ported head.
VM 29 smooth bore's.
Dyna 2000 Ign. w/Dyna mini coil's
APE cylinder stud's and nut's.
APE valve spring's.
APE Track King clutch.
V/H KZ1000 sidewinder.
3.5x18 laced to a KZ1000 disk hub.
150/60/18 Shinko 006 Podium.
63" wheel base.

Looking good for the street. That one adjuster reminds me of the machine in the original War of the Worlds. :lol: I like them better too. B)

Like WrenchMonkey said in the Handbuilt thread I was having an elect. issue after doing the paint work
and was thinking I missed a ground wire or something well turn's out the voltage reg had took a dump.
If I didn't run the head light it would keep the battery charged but with it on it wouldn't keep the battery
charged (it's wire hi/low both on) so dug out the 650 stater and reg swapped them in and now charging like it should.

What was making it hard to find the battery issue I've been having was I don't run the
headlight at the track or running it at the shop but some time's I needed the light so I'd put
the fuse in and ride it a little next day it wouldn't start.

Any way's got out for a ride last night about 20 mile's with a few stop's
and you know what I really miss the shit out of street riding this thing .
Really need a new back tire this one don't hook up on the street now like it did when new
but it's fun doing 3nd gear roll on's and blowing the tire off at 30 mph.

Seriously nice looking paint there man! Is that a stock color? Looks like glass.
I don't know how you can resist riding that badazz machine on every street. It's intimidating looking and beautiful at the same time B)

Pete I know about that event and was thinking about going.
Their at exit 264 off I-35 I'm just a little south at about exit 245 so just a short ride
about 5-7 mile's up the highway.

Jeff the color is a Toyota Blue .

Think I'm gonna order a new back tire tonight riding I can really feel this
one being worn flat in the center.

So after work tonight I cut the battery box out.
Long time ago I had used some 1/4" rod to lower the stock
battery box but now with the little Shorai it was way to big and heavy.

Moved the voltage reg. and the starter solenoid above the Dyna box then used some alum. angle and made a shelf to set the battery on. Still need to clean up the wiring.

Next made a strap that bolt's in to hold the battery.


All in all with the battery swap I've remove about 12 lbs.

Looking at those close up pictures, your bike looks like it's brand new! I gotta second Pete's comment too. Can you add a 6-pack cooler in that space now? Hey! You could use it to keep ice for cooling the intake before a race AND keep your beers cold for after the race!

Maybe I should patent that idea? Custom, Intake/Beer Chiller! :laugh:

That is looking good ...... battery is fairly new and can't really afford it right now any way but when it goes I'm thinking I'll go with the battery you picked up..... another 12lb loss is some thing I could really go for...... now that your on the street too I keep hoping you run into one of those new 600s and surprise the hell outta them...... thinking time will tell. :woohoo:
