Six Kawasaki Z2 and Mecum auction
21 Jan 2025 09:33
There are six Z2 at the Mecum auction January 30
1973, 1974, 1975 (2), 1976(2)
Last year a Z2 sold for $85k then canceled due to restamped vin numbers
Seems strange so many, I will be surprised in any reach $85k

The Z2 sellers are probably selling because they saw that price last year. One of those six is an early 1973 version. I looked at it...I think it has a different brake MC.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

There are a number of nit-picky issues with all the motorcycles shown (Z2's)...but if they are sold as 'as is' then I can't whine. I suspect that the 'errors' we observe are due to the paucity of information available on just what constitutes a restored Z2/Z2A/Z750-RS. This may apply to current owners and/or the venue at which they are being sold at. For example, the 1976 Z750 is actually a 1977 year model and the 1974 Z2A is actually a 1975 year model. This data comes from John Brookes' Z2 internet site (now defunct).

If they all resemble this one then no way will they get close to the 85K. The one shown is clearly not intended to be original.

Well 73Z1, getting closer to original but.. Wrong 28mm Z1 carbs, aftermarket gauges/switchblocks/seat/turn signals/etc etc etc.

I can't blame the messenger so it won't go on Your permanent record, ha. Note the difference of correct VM26SC while they emphasized the incorrect VM28SC's for no real reason? And what a correct switch set should resemble
