Terrible motor swap idea kz440

Hi guys I need someone to tell me that I shouldn't do this... there is a 83 gpz550 motor in my area for $100 that comes with the carbs, frame, kerker exhaust, wheels, basically the whole bike in boxes but no title.
I gotta stop draining my pockets but I'm wondering if the 550 motor will squeeze in the 440 frame with modifications to mounting. Im also open to ideas as to what I could do with this since most of the bike is there. Just trying to have fun with my money while I can 🤪

I've had a 550 and I've got a 440 (I like it for what it is - it's got its own charm).

Maybe put the 550 back together as a GPZ550 (frame and engine and suspension) since you've got all the parts, and do something weird and wacky with the 440 frame. There are companies that do hardtails for them.

I guess not impossible but the 440 frame will want bracing to be safe with the extra power (brakes and suspension will also want looking at) the deal breaker will be the front frame tubes and whether or not the exhaust header will fit around them (cylinder spacing on a twin is much wider than a four ??)
If  you can get a title building the 550 would me much more straightforward

All of this. The forks on the 440 are 33mm and the forks on same year of 550 are 35mm, which should tell the OP something.

In the amount of time it would take you to get the GPZ back together, you could probably also get a title for it (assuming it’s never been reported stolen). I’d say $100 is a great price for a project bike like that though, so get it if you wanna take that on.

As for your 440 however, what’s wrong with the motor it has, or why would you want to swap its motor at all?

Thanks for all the considerations everyone. At this point I'm just trying to justify the purchase. Is everything in the photos worth the $100 (that may be subjective) and is it possible to "get my money back" by reselling the parts listed in the pictures? Just a lot of thinking to be done considering the alternate routes. The main thing right now is I'm not sure if my parents would be supportive of this decision since I already have two bikes in their garage

They are easier to sneak in when they are in pieces :)

Thanks I need a laugh once in a while! I might message the guy and see if he is or knows the person who the title is registered to since i looked it up and it takes 5 years of paying a bond to get a title officially registered to your name if there is an abandoned vehicle in wisconsin.

I would say yes. The cams alone are worth that, depending on which performance grind they are (I’ve been looking for some myself, still waiting to hear back from another forum member who might have some). Parting out bikes and selling them on eBay seems like a lot of work, but I know several people that do it and they seem to turn a profit.

I messaged the seller and he said that he bought the bike at an auction and that's why it was in pieces and there was no title with it
