These motors don't have bearings

It's titled as an 83, but motor and frame Vins all match and say 1982 N1, not N2 like the 83. Pretty sure this is a Gpz N1 motor.

I know that, I just want to see if there is uneven wear or scoring.

Might just buy a different head and say f it. Still going to see if it can be straightened and used. Does look like exhaust valve seats are awfully shallow and some scoring in journals and caps. Found this on eBay. When I just put in kz 750 head much more options. I didn't think all 750 heads were interchangeable though? Let's not say things unless it's a fact, and lead people to buy and build the wrong thing. ;)

Some of those replies are to Scott, hope we're not getting confused Steve. If so, sorry. I maybe will just get a different head. Whole nice heads with cams for $200. And deal with this head later.

You need a later head with the bathtub combustion chamber. The earlier E and H model heads are different. If I were you I'd call APE first and find out how much they would charge to straighten yours. It may well be cheaper than purchasing a used in unknown condition. Your head looks to be in pretty nice shape overall.

Thanks for that info was just researching. And yes I agree, I think it can be made serviceable. I am going to call them for a quote tomorrow, but sending it to a machine shop 2hrs away through Arnold Motor Supply that specializes in small engine head and machine work for free shipping, and a quote, to start. Sending all valves cams etc with, with service limits written down.

So is mine a Spectre motor? What's the differences between that and Gpz. Thought they put the gpz motors and heads in these? My head looks like a Gpz. 81 N1 750 I know for sure on vin. Carbs are all black too. Head and rest of motor in gold.

Spectres are the same as the '82 GPz750 except for shaft drive and color.

Talked to ape and they said you just put it back together and they pull back down. Can't heat to straighten them or anything.i was thinking that myself. Good to know.

APE sells some HD studs and nuts so you can over torque some. They may be a good investment.
