So how exactly do you think a spring loaded hone will make an out of round cylinder round? It is made to follow the existing bore shape, not recreate a circle out of an egg.car5car wrote:
that is why it will take up to one hour to bore a cylinder.PLUMMEN wrote:
Thats a hone, not a boring bar. :woohoo:car5car wrote: I was going to buy this tool and use my drill:

Of course they don't. That is because car cylinders are round and bike cylinders are square.PLUMMEN wrote:

I need stones springloaded with limited movement. That means the tool has to be modified somehow. So it wouldn't work.PLUMMEN wrote: So how exactly do you think a spring loaded hone will make an out of round cylinder round? I don't get engines with bad cylinders very often.

I bought Dodge Stealth with heads removed in 95, I think. Didn't know anything about engine repair. I had a service manual. Paid about 3k for it, sold for 7k.PLUMMEN wrote: So just exactly how long have you been putting motors together ?
About a year ago I bought 02 Jaguar X-type with manual transmission. I repaired one connecting rod journal. My wife drove it for about a year before I sold it.
What do you do? Repair bike engines?

Back in the day I would fit a .5 over piston in a dirt bike. No way would I attempt to go over that on any engine. I've taken short cuts out of need but it is only until I could do it right down the road.

I do a little of this and a little of that. The BBC in my avatar is my improved version of a zz502 chevy with breathed on iron rect port 990 heads and a few other tweaks, which makes more than enough hp and torque to send that jag trans and independent rear suspension of yours running to the back of the garage with its 1/2 shafts between its legs. :laugh:car5car wrote:

600hp and 560 ft lbs of torque on 91 octane pump gas would do wonders for that little jag. :woohoo:car5car wrote:
