It probably would run better with the factory air box.

+1 !
Tuning CV carbs for pod filters is quite a challenge simply because of the way CV carbs work. Why change to pods? Ed

If you don't have the stock airbox, you'll need to stabilize the air flow into the carburetor.
Something like this, but additional carb tuning may be needed. Custom Air Box for KZ440.

I don't have much experience with CV carbs, but your symptoms sounds like a fuel starvation issue. Check to make sure you have good flow at the fuel line. Low flow could be the petcock, an inline filter or bend/clog in the line. If you have good flow check float needle valve assembly and float level setting. You're getting just enough fuel for idle. Anything more and the flow can't keep up.

Wrap your pod with duct tape and block about 2/3 of the surface area and try again. Also open the pilot screw to 3 turns open.

Everybody is telling him to make it richer and he is saying gas is pouring in already..... sounds more like the float needle is wide open or the slide needle is pulled all the way with a stuck diaphragm and or maybe there is no main or pilot jet in the holder... LOL
Does it use one of those goofy vacuum fuel selectors where a blown gasket is pouring gas into the carb through a vacuum nipple on the carb?
