What do you guys recommend, a 4-1 or 4-2? Also at what point do you need to have your crank welded? I heard that if you go higher than factory revs, you should get the crank welded? Whats the reason behind this?
Oh and lush, those turbos are huge! Lets throw the whole 100 whp thing out the window. I wanna be competative at the track. To swap in a 530 chain, does it need to be off set so it matches up straight? Or can someone provide a link to a 530 chain swap thread already made? Thanks guys
Cheers

if your going racing, u dont want progressive springs. those r for cruisers that want a smooth ride. look into Racetech's gold valves and there recommended springs. or upgrade the forks all together.
4-1 vs 4-2-1.
a 4-2-1 spreads out the power curve, and cleans up the power dip at 5000rpm. it will likely be very hard to find 1 to fit and old bike. just get a 4-1, racers dont go under 5500 rpm.lol
check with turbo guzzy on the need for crank welding . generally, on a kz1000 , u would weld the crank if u r adding compression and heading to the drag strip. its the added torque applied to the crank more so, than rpm's. stockers r find as is.
going from 530 to 630 only requires new sprockets and chain.
an offset sprocket is only required if u miss align the rear sprocket. like if u changed to a dif rear rim to accept a wider tire. then u would offset the front sprocket outwards to re-align it with the rear.

why pay $4000.00+ for a turbo kit, pay $75/hour to have someone put it on, and tune it, then still have a $2000.00 bike.

Cfm calculator? :blink:donthaveakawman wrote: I don't think that 810 kit is going to be right for a turbo. you need to take into consideration a cfm calculator, the compression, and are the pistons forged or cast.
You can put a turbo on a high compression motor, you just run less boost to hit the same hp number.
Im gonna go out on a limb here and say most 810 kits are going to be forged, although they begin the process as a casting
