why yes, i just cleaned the petcock by shooting carb cleaner through all the holes and ports, also installed petcock rebuild kit. cleaned it quite well, also i have have fuel filters on both fuel entrance ports, or whatever you wanna call them, now these are lawnmower fuel filters. idk if that matters..... but thet are new and look almost just like ones you put on a two stroke dirtbike.

i also atempted to clean the tank out with behr concrete etcher, it worked well but flash rusted almost back to where it was in the first place. i am thinking about just "creme"ing it.

also,i checked both plugs on the number 1 cyl where the first plug fouled and was not running and the good plug had plenty of spark, i also tested both plugs on the other wire and the same occured. so it seemed one cyl was firing and just the plug was bad or too badly fouled.

The rust sediment was what was clogging up my carbs. I finally lined it with the Kreem stuff.

yeah that was my next step to tank prep. i guess i'm going to go ahead and check the valve clearance to be sure, then if valves are in spec i will next go ahead and kreem the tank. if not the valves while kreeming the tank i will also replace the coils put brand new points on and a condenser. i dont see what else could be causing the problem...oh yeah i'm putting a supertrapp muffler on it.

question. is there an electronic ignition available for this? or are there any off maybe like a gpz that is compatible?

I believe the Kawi electronic ign from the 440 twin will work, and it's a good unit.

ok guys so tonight i took off my valve cover, turned engine so that camshaft lobes were pointing away from the valve buckets, my feeler gauge went as low as .002 inches so i tried it last and it would not fit, obviously along with the .003 and .004. looks like correct valve timing is .05mm-.10mm

so .08mm converts to .0031 inches, this means somehow the shims in my bike are too large. correct?

if so how does this happen? Is it that the valves are wearing down against the seat? Also how do i know what size shims i need?

i am also EXTREMELY excited to announce my valves are shim over bucket. so i guess they didnt do bucket over shim until later models than the b4.

You can get feeler gauges as small as .001" (I have a set that goes that low).

If the bucket turns easily, there probably is some clearance. If an .002" shim won't go under, but the bucket is loose, the clearance is between .000 and .002"

but .0019inches converts to .05mm so basically .002 is hardly in spec, which would mean i need to replace the shims anyway with smaller ones....correct? and can i find these shims at advanced auto? and pleaces liek that? or should i go straight to kaw?
