A good friend of mine has an R6. I'm smelling a drag race coming up soon.

les holt wrote: These old Kaw's will spank an R6, got to remember, they have 40ys of technology on their sides! Just how much money you want to spend to compensate? It can be done for less than the cost of a new R6 but, you're not going to out corner or out stop one, just out run him, oh, and get a whole lot more attention around town. So the way I see it is, if you want R6 performance, get an R6. You want character, get you an old Kaw. It is and will always be the original sport bike!

I like the way you think Les :)

I personally get to see, up close and personal, every bike made by Honda, Suzuki, Kaw, Yamaha and KTM these days. There's some nice stuff to be sure but none of it has the clean, elegant style of an old Kawasaki KZ or Z1.

But Id walk right past it any day of the week to go for a sideways ride down the track in this 1 which is way cooler in my book ! B) B) B) B) B)

Speaking as one who has experienced both worlds, nothing from the old muscle car days holds a candle to a modern vette.

My 10 GS will run 12:6 115 mph all day long, then leave the track and drive clear across the country in comfort and getting 26 mpg.

Problem is it looks like every other soulless new vette doing it.
Now sitting here under a tarp and 30 years of dust sits something that dont handle as good or run as good but once I kick off and jr gets the keys a nice ground up resto will definately prove it has a lot more soul than anything thats rolled off the line in 40 plus years

Of course! With 143 lbs extra to pull and less power to pull with, it's only natural that the old puffer will out-drag the R6 :silly:

Nice ride Jay. I personally would like to see a new, limited edition Vette with modern tech in a 72 Stinray body style. Sort of what they did to the Camaro but not screw it up this time....

Larry;
Mine is a black Grand Sport wide body ;ike the one in this photo;

I have seen customs, where they take the body off of a C5 and replace it with a replica body from an original 1954 vette.

Years ago AMA prostar had a 600 supersport class. It had the same rules as the road racing 600 supersport. Motors had to be stock, but highly tuned. The record was a Kawasaki ZX6R with an et around 9.60.
