WE use a computerized balancer. The imbalance is measured in "inch ounces" of force trying to leave center. The lighter the crank or the higher the intended RPM, the lower the inch ounce tolerances.

This is the cylinder head of a BMW S1000RR after 50,000 km or 31,000 miles:

Hard to see that pic, but that's what I was thinking. 5k miles is really nothing. On a normal running engine, even on regular pump gas, the engine would look brand new.

These old Kaw's will spank an R6, got to remember, they have 40ys of technology on their sides! Just how much money you want to spend to compensate? It can be done for less than the cost of a new R6 but, you're not going to out corner or out stop one, just out run him, oh, and get a whole lot more attention around town. So the way I see it is, if you want R6 performance, get an R6. You want character, get you an old Kaw. It is and will always be the original sport bike!

I can only remember one of the original Z1000s getting into the 11s in stock form, the Z1-R tested by Cycle magazine in 1977. Many years ago, Cycle World took an R6 into the nines! OK, it had been lowered and fitted with a Dynojet kit or something, but it was a low 10 second bike even bone stock. So 1.5 to 2 seconds faster than your off-the-showroom-floor Z1000 from 1980 or older. I still wouldn't want the little screamer engine - life is more than outright performance.

In contrast, this is how our local "specialists" balance crankshafts. :woohoo:
