dry clutch kit was created by turboguzzi
hello Zeders

Racer build is in full swing now, will finally post some pics when the frame is back from the welders and there's something to see at last...

In the meantime, came across this picture showing a 83' wayne replica. I am not really sure it's the original wayne bike as its got CV carbs, the racer had Keihin Cr's as far as i know, but i might be wrong.

In any case what caught my eye is the dry clutch kit on it.
Is anybody aware of dry clutch kits for the 750?

Cheers

TG

That's a trick pic of a Gpz !

I also remember a buddy of mine years ago, had a poster of Eddie Lawson on his '81 KZ1000R It also had a dry clutch, and it was also a trick "monoshock" rear suspension setup (even though the production KZ1000's were twin shockers)

'06 HD Fatboy

...or those forks , calipers , rotors
period pieces they may be but even in their day a difficult proposition at best and just frightening the rest of the time .
A little less unsprung weight on that front axle and bit stiffer front would have gone a long way to making that a real machine .

c'mon Larry, dry clutches are fun. They are the best part of a Ducati. I mean you spend $16K on a bike and it sounds like it's broke when it's brand new.

hei kop,

well, in italian vintage racing, you have to use period pieces, no modern brakes or suspension mods are allowed unless they were in use back at the time. And you'll be surprised how well they can work if you set them up right. I know that AHRMA is more relaxed in chassis mods allowing 17" wheels and four pistons calipers, but if you ask me, they look out of place on an early 80's bike, but that's me.

in any case, traced down a few other pics of wayne's 83' bike and indeed it does have a dry clutch kit but now I am starting to think that those were some special KHI pieces and not a kit sold over the counter.

The theory behind dry clutches is that they can cope with higher torque while weighting less. there are quite a few kits out there for vintage racing, the one for the CB500T is quite common.

tnxs anyway

Funny how almost all serious racing engines have CR carburetors on them ;)

And perhaps another factor could be that the clutch spins with less drag through air than through an oil bath.

Thanks for the excellent engine pic. :cheer: Interesting oil routing.

Good Fortune! :)

Had good experience in the past with direct oil lines to the cam and plan to do the same in my GPZ build.

Zero oil leaks in the head o-rings and the oil doesnt pick up more heat while its making its way up slowly through the block and head.

And yes, gonna run CR's too :)

Now Larry, be nice... That's because all the KZR guys have all them BS 34's in their rides... None left for the serious racing machines.... ;)
