The biggest thing is getting people to fill out the map. Pretty easy to get it all done if thats the case.

I'm not personally a fan of that circle thing because I would be left out, and I'd really like to do this.

I would too. I am hoping that is just a grab it by the horns and get it started idea. My bike is a Stoplight to stoplight bike, but I can ride couple hundred miles in a day with minimal numbness and slight shoulder ache. Just hope to be a part of it

Anybody here have or know someone with talent that can make the flag?

Regarding the ride, I'm in MD (please stick me on the map in central MD) and can handoff or receive the token with anyone in Delaware, South/central PA (like around Gettysburg), northern VA, or eastern sections of WV (Harper's Ferry would be nice). I prefer before Thanksgiving or after the middle of March, but will consider a winter ride if no snow or freezing rain (BRRRRRR). Ed

For those of you who say you'd be left out, can I ask why?

I'm not suggesting we follow this loop exactly, just that we come up with an order of states using the loop as a starting point. Riders from neighboring states would then coordinate actual routes, pickup and drop offs with each other.

I noticed one of you is in Canada and the other in KY.

If you're in Western KY, we might decide to put KY after TN instead if that makes more sense.

T_Dub you're in Newfoundland right? Could you do a leg worked in with the New England guys? Or if we get enough people we can run a cross Canada trek too.

I would really only be able to be first or last, or go to New England to do a leg. I'd prefer to be first or last since just getting to the northern border of Maine is a 20 hour drive for me not including the 6 hour ferry ride. Coming down any distance into New England will make this a week long round trip trip for me rather than a long weekend.

A cross Canada trek would be great, hard to find enough guys west of Ontario though I'd say. Too many long lonely miles out on the prairies.

Yeah Newfoundland is going to be tough. I can see why you'd want to be first or last.

Riding a bike in Newfoundland? I have the deepest respect for you; that cannot be easy. Have you considered adding a bit of safety to your bike as shown on the BMW in the link below?

Seems like drawing the route based on the participant's location would be a better way to map the route. Shortest distance between point A and point B. Then each member can coordinate with other riders within his/her proximity to retrieve the token and pass it on. Only once it has been determined by all that there are enough riders without large gaps in any part of the country (like currently in the Rocky mountain and Texas areas) should the route be determined. An ideal scenario like this would take some time to organize. Otherwise, there is the danger of it unraveling from lack of planning. Just throwing in my 2¢ .

Betsy Ross...

Actually there are a few online companies that will but the cost is unknown until you submit the design & size.

I have visions of some poor soul strapping the token "whatever it is" to their bike and then when they stop somewhere later noticing it has fell off their bike after riding for an hour or more. How would like to be that guy to have to tell the others here after say 40 some states covered already! :pinch:
