148mph. Early '80's...On theTurner Turnpike between Tulsa and Oklahoma City on the way to a Queen concert at the Myriad in OKC. Modified KZ900LTD w 16/33 sprockets, Kerker, cam and a bit of headwork...premium pumpgas and a splash of 104+ octane booster LOL. My buddy was on his KZ1000. We wanted 150 but a curve was coming so had to shut 'er down. Aaaaaahh those were the days LOL. Indestructable young bucks wanting to see what their toys will do hehe. ...............................Mike
Vroom-vroom!!!
Oh I forgot to add that that 148mph day was with t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes....kids! hehe

Fast enough to get my 17 year old ass dragged off by the deputies, no title on the bike, no insurance, no motorcycle endorsement...
In reality I walked away pretty unscathed legally but it still was not fun. I could have gone to jail.
The final number was disputed, and officially I do not recall the events of the day in question...

If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Fastest for me on my 77' KZ1000a was under 140mph, indicated.
Also, that was not a very secure feeling on that thing.
Recently I've had it up to 100-110mph but I think my balls shrunk as I've gotten older.

Hit a good 500 in the red after the 600 mile break in .... maybe a true 125..... first time I did it I did it with a half worn flat rear tire I got a wobble that scared me pretty good.... new tire fixed that...... ....... still would like to go a honest 160 plus some day though....... mainly why I decided against that big Ninja in the mid 90s..... probably wouldn't be here if I would a. :silly:
