 Yeah, seriously; a forum member offered up one of his spare steeds to me recently (at a very fair price) and I just couldn't pony up the dough. I have a laundry list of excuses, but the truth of the matter is that I'm just a teacher who supports his family and the priority is (strangely enough) not "bikes first"
Normally I pick up a bike (that I don't care about, like a TL, ZX, GSXR, or equivalent) sometime during the winter, and then part it out on eBay during the summer, generating funds for mo-mo toys. [the bike always seems to fall in my lap...it's a God-thing] This way I don't take food off the table and all is happy in my castle. This time of year - however - is Christmas-present 'season' and I'm normally off the player's list until January. Sucks, but it's how po'-broke professors live...at least this one, anyhow!
It's why I like it when guys post up sweet rides like jimmybon's. Let's me have my KZ650-thru-osmosis...

The seat, duck tail and grab bar are all off the ZR750 Zepher 91-01. The seat has been reshaped so the sides come lower and with a curve and the grab bar was striped of paint, polished then nickel plated then polished again as with the rims, hubs and anything aloy other then the engine covers, cheers

TG, what a great set of pipes!

Bill, that bike is pretty nice only has 14000 miles on it, the original paint and seat are still pretty good and it came with a Dyna ignition. The pipes are unfortunately not quite as nice as I had hoped they would be, some moron PO has drilled holes in the rear of them and it looks like battery acid has gotten on them at some point. I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to proceed with this one, the engine has quite a bit of "white rust" and because I'm feeling a little lazy I may just install a 750 GPZ engine I have laying around here in it to avoid having to clean this one up or paint it. This bike is more of a long term project, I really haven't had much time to mess with it yet. I've been too busy getting this one back in shape.

Here's my 77 b model cafe racer.
Sporting vm26 carbs, K&N pods, mini gauges from Mikesxs.com, flipped headlight bucket (which I discovered is a 78 Honda CB750 F bucket) with the key switch mounted in the bucket, custom built tail/seat, candy tangerine paint with a spade ghosted into the tank, and progressive wound shocks from Mikesxs.com as well.
