78 KZ650,cant tell if its a b-1.I believe in that year they only made b.Am I right?
Close, but I'll clarify. The B is the sub model. In '77 they produced the KZ650 (B ) and the KZ650 Custom (C). Since they were both first year productions they are known as the B1 and C1 respectively.
In 1978 some changes were made for the new model year, some to improve the bikes and others to meet new US regulations. Those models were the B2 and C2. But then another change resulted in the B2A. Also, in '78 a third model was introduced, the SR which was the D1. See where this is going?
In 1979 still more changes (color options, EPA regs, etc.) and Ma Kaw gave us the B3, C3, and D2.
In 1980 they scrapped all that for the US market and gave us the F1 which was the combination of the B and C models (at least to me) and the E1 which was an SR with a few changes but with a new label of Ltd. The rest of the world got the B4, C4, and D3, as near as I can tell.
Go that? Good!

Kind of junk to me, but it's been real great to me.
Proof that one man's junk is another man's treasure.

I traded an Olympus C-5050 digital camera, a first generation Sony Blu-Ray player, (I bought a new one) and some older stereo equipment that I no longer had a use for, for the bike. It's immaculate! It's a nice change of pace when I don't feel like muscling my KZ1100 around.
Wow, do I ever hate you! That's my bike! It's a 1980 KZ650 F1. Let's see..... hmmmmmmm....... ok, I'll trade you 10 AA batteries, a 7 year old VCR (works) and I'll throw in some old flash lights for the seat and fuel tank! :woohoo: Did I mention how I hate you??
