I was one of the first to post on this thread almost four years ago and have to update. I posted a pic of my bike right after the accident but have since fixed everything with help from friends. It's even better than before, new paint, new seat, factory exhaust. Bad Kaw really needs one of these!!

August 2007....

Now....

After 3 years and 11 months he still doesn't have a KZ650!

I believe he's simply incorrigible! :P

I don't think those mods would be appropriate for a KZ650. If you must give in to your creative instincts, I suggest you consider the following lightly modified KZ650 (well it started life as a KZ650). It may have a bit more "pep" than most  :

KZ650 with injected KZ1100 upped to 1400CC.

1980 KZ650E ltd...love it most of the time. Right now fighting leaks (gas/oil mixture) from 2 of the carbs. 4000 original miles.

@ Godfrey: you actually have one, so yeah, it counts ...

@ 650ed: Great googly-moogly!!! Wow! Is that your bike??? I could geek on that thing for hours ... no, days! Coooooool! You got more details? Did you do a write-up on it? 1400cc ... seriously? What kind of injection system? What other motor mods? What are the details on the head? Is that little oil cooler enough to keep it cool in city traffic?

...see, I told you.

Know what the coolest thing on that weapon is (to me)? All those 60s-era mods that make it look 650 BSA/Triumph/Norton (W-650-ish ;) ) are really set off by the original (1980) Z1 Classic emblem on the side-cover ... sweet touch. ...love the headlight.

PS> On a KZ650 related note: I like the body-type that is Z1-looking ... that is the 'C' model ... correct? I saw a 'B' model listed recently (here!) that had the round Z1-like fuel tank and tail ... what all models have the duck-bill tail and the round Z1-ish fuel tank? ... (in my best Vinny Babarino voice: "I'm so confused")

B and C, both have the duck bill and rounder tank. D model is an SR its a square tank and no tail. Later CSR's are more like an LTD but spoke wheels.

That bike belongs to a guy on another forum; I wish it was mine. The KZ650 B and C models have the same body pieces with different paint. The big difference between the B and C is the C has cast wheels; triple disk brakes; and a few other goodies the B doesn't have. Here is a picture of an original blue 1977 KZ650-C1 (this one is mine):
