Nice Joe... I know it as an EMGO fairing, but I'm sure there were many manufacturers. I had one of these on my 80' KZ1000ST, back in the 80's-90's, and now my 650 D2...
I hope you'll like it, saved my face many times... got down behind when having to pass gravel trucks and the likes...
edit: I also like the fact that it takes the wind off your shoulders. Makes the ride easier... I'm running straight/superbike bars, other bars may make the ride different.

I'm a fan also. I installed one on the 82' Honda CB 900F even though my buddy doesn't like fairings. I told him to ride it home for a while, it's 40 miles with a bunch of freeway. He rode it back a couple weeks later and said it was good especially on the freeway. I have mounted a few of them and always make braces that use the mirror mounts and the rear windscreen screws. There's no movement or buffeting and the air comes off the fairing very smooth. I usually cut off the extensions from the lower corners off the fairing just for looks.

Yes, the Emgo Viper...
I bought a used one off Ebay last year, its going on my DFI converted KZ650.
I don't think the guy actually mounted it on a bike, its in very good conditions, just some shelf scuffs.
It was missing the mount kit and all the fasteners to hold the screen on, but that was not an issue for me (would have most likely tossed all that cheap stuff)
The bike is going to be painted green so I will be working on it anyways. No issue with making mount brackets or sourcing fasteners.
I think the size is perfect for vintage bike, smaller that my Vetter Quicksilver but bigger than some of these newer Ebay clones.

Hi Folks,
nice bikes ya all have, and i repeat: I like that style immense,.., since i saw the movie "Stone" firsttime in `75,..( but i thought, THIS fairings have been sit just a little too High above...)
I agree, this EMGO fairings are the right size for our Kawasakis, not too big, and not too small, ( they have to covering the instruments too), perfect style!
Gives that Z1000 in combination with an Giuliary-sport-seat that fine "caferacer-look" i will like it ever so much!

im also a fan i bought one from a dealer here in Norway after i found pictures of a bike for sale here i Norway that looks real nice.I post a pick of that bike here . i have also bough a gulliari seat ,but will have to replace the seatcover.
The viper cowling i recieved was not top quality it had lots of dents in the gelcoat/plastic so i had to do some work on it.Also the screen was hased on one side so i will try to polish that clear again.I first sanded the plastic with coarse paper and a sandingblock then used finer and finer grit paper. Then primed it with plastic primer and then grey primer for plastic. The plan was to paint it the kz900 diamond green myself ,but after a lot of testing mixing paints i can not match the paint so is going to send it to a painter that has painted many kawas kz900 in diamond green
The plan is to make the bike look like the one in the last picture ,but will have to buy a lower handlebar too i think.
This mod is easy and fast to restore back to original look too

Hi Rolf,
good job you`ve done on your fairing,..and of course, very nice paint on your tank and spoons !!!
I ride my bike also with lower handlebars, on my A2 i`ve installed a flat dragbar, only 700 mm wide,..perfect handling for me,...und i plan to mount other aftermarket headlight- mounts, to lower the headlight and fairing a little more,..but first, i have to measure it out, to see, what concrete i will need for that.

hey Joe
that dragbar handlebar looks cool. I try to figure out what height i need on my bike with the viper fairing mounted.I think it will need to bee wider than 700mm to get the brake-reservoir on outside of the fairing. I also thinking about clip-ons .that looks cool, but not comfortable riding with .
The plastic spoons in the picture is from when trying to mix paint to match the original paint on the gastank. I mixed 3 different colors from spraycans ,but it does not look like same color so i will send it to a professional painter.
It will be interesting to see what you do keep posting !!

Hi Rolf,
yes, till 2021 i was on most bike with clip-ons on the way,..but from year to year it´s havier for me, to fold myself down to the right postion,..i decide mostly for dragbars, thats also an absolte ok for my to ride the bikes, ..with thoose lower handlebars, i can handle my bikes better than with higher bars,...and point of gravity is for me also much better, or even just the feeeling for that
I`ll keep you all informed how it goes on,..but weather needs to be warmer for wrenching and screwing...it´s cold and uncomfortable in January and february here...
Go on with your fine work also!

Joe I just read your introduction post and saw your bike It look great.Im 57 so my back starting to get tired leaning forward . This summer i almost forgot that
when i found a Very cool bike a laverda rgs1000 that was modified. Im glad it was sold before i bought it i think it vould make backpain worse haha.
When i look at your bike now im thinking.... just fast ..maybe you can just switch the side of the headlightears and mount them upside down to get the headlight lower?
my kawa is in a winter storage place now so i can not go and check. Here is a pick of the laverda that i was glad i did not ending up buying to expensive too anyway.

Hi Rolf,
yes, to get older will bring some little things withit ...i`ll know, ya can bet!...And i have a good understanding, that you have loved this fine Laverda 1000, it´s pretty racer, i had own a 1000 Jota 120° from 2008- 2012.
But too complecated engine meshup: P.Ex. : To adjust the valvelash, you have to get out the cams, to get out the cams, you have to split the timing chain...and so on..2-piece cam-bearing-blocks...opposite this, is an Kawasaki engine very good and easy to service!!!
Your idea, to turn the mounts upside down is not too bad !!!.., but i think, i need some more lenght to the front than original distance, to move the fairing a few little centimeters in the front direction..but i will try it, Thank you for your ideas !!
