Nice work Kelly, I had the same problem with the petcock on my LTD when I put Mikuni 28 SC carbs on it.
It may not be an issue if/when you switch to the bigger fuel tank.

Yesterday I finally got a chance for a first ride. The bike runs and rides great. My only complaint is the rear springs are too strong. With the preload backed all the way off the it's still too stiff. I only weigh 125lbs so I'll likely need to find some springs with a lighter spring rate.

Thanks
I got the seat from Z1 Parts 5 months ago when they were out of stock everywhere else. I used the seat lock hoop from the old seat.

Kelly E. -  For the Low Z1 seat install, Z1E Support says it is imperative that their bracket kit is used for an LTD set up to be able to properly attach.
Did you also purchase the special kit to properly attach to your 77 LTD?    ( I also have a seat bracket/ hardware from the existing LTD seat and planned to reuse)

Did your hinge locations on the new seat and the 77 ltd frame align properly?

Here is the important bracket :

I would be curious to see an under the seat  pix later.

Thanks Kelly E.

I reused the seat latch and installed it on the new seat with a couple of short fat sheet metal screws. I tried the old and new hinges and the new ones that came with the seat fit better so I used them.

KellyE -I got the new z1e low seat installed.  I was able to use the old ltd seat bracket too. After drilling  pilot holes, I used self threading screws to mount the seat bracket.

Nice job
Your bike is looking great. Do you still have the LTD tank or the bigger KZ tank?

How old is that Dunlop 491 Elite II rear tire? The last time I saw one of those it was the 80's and it was coming off my 82' V45 Sabre completely worn out.

This is the only tank that came with the bike.
Yes, the tires are ready for replacement.  Probably well past the 8 yr. threshold.

Today I got the KZ 1000LTD running again. It was the two pinched wires and a dying starter solenoid.
I also got the side covers pinned so I don't lose them to the wind or sticky fingers.
