If it was fuel it should evaporate, but how can oil come out of the carbs? Via the intake?
Anyone seen this before?
It's the fuel.
Probably a light weep from the float bowl gasket.
The gasket material can act as a wick and the fuel gets drawn through.
The residue always happens to varying degrees as the wet fuel attracts dirt from the air and also some additives in the fuel do not evaporate.
It's got worse since the ethanol content has gone up which also gums up jets etc if left stood a long time.
Also fuel can get blown back from the venturi into those filters , mix with the airboure muck they have caught which can then drip out of the bottom.
This then gets pulled onto the carbs and back of the barrels as there is a low pressure area behind the engine.
This is the same principle which causes the back of vehicles to get more filthy than the front and how slipstreaming works .

So I just clean it of and it should be good if you just ride it more often .
Waiting for the weather to improve.
And some small tasks to do.
Next week installing an oil cooler (found an old discussion about oil level with an oil cooler installed  )

If you fit the cooler with the fittings at the top you need to top up the oil once the engine has been run as a small amount stays in the cooler.
This adds a little extra capacity to the system and keeps the cooler primed for quicker oil circulation.
Just don't forget to drain the cooler at oil change time.

Just ordered an oil cooler fitting from Z1 enterprise.
Already have a set: oil cooler and lines, but the problem is that the lines are 10AN and the connection on the fitting from Z1 enterprise is 1/4NPT.
And there are hardly any connections from 1/4NPT to 10AN.
So it will be drilling and tapping I guess.
I think the oil cooler I bought was actually for a car

This is al I have for the moment Steve .
Almost night here and al day tomorrow in the mancave.
Did you notice any improvements with cooling Steve?
I have a standard block so I don't think I need it, especially in a cold country like Holland.
But the bike I am replicating is a Sanctuary and that one has one
