Better setup for less than $600?

Microsquirt ECU for $350, gpz11 throttle bodies for $150, then the last $100 on sensors and other crap from a junkyard. May be a little more than carbs but not ancient tech either.

I think you'll be fine with the bs34's; they're not a bad carb. They're basically a flow on demand carburetor (like a quadrajet, and there's tons of cars doing 10 second 1/4 times with them, my 11 second camaro still has one) and modern sportbikes use CV carbs too.

I believe the issue with these carbs and pods are from cheap pods, or pods covering one of the air bleeds

my bikes; 80kz1000(project), 77 gl1000, 74 h2 (project)
Past; 78 kz1000, 83 kz550

OK, There's nothing wrong with the BS34's on a stock build w/air box if you want to just cruz but your's isn't any longer...
I Can't remember what cam you installed or if you stayed with the 1075 displacement but I'll wager a Dr. Pepper right now that you will be disappointed in the long run.

Case in point when I blew up my first build, went with stock 1000cc setup... Did she run yes felt good but........
She didn't pull like she had, didn't give me the Chubby when I pulled her trigger.... :(

Am I running @ mid to full throttle all the time, hell no... but one thing for sure, on these Highway loop roads where ppl are driving like crap, I twist her to get out of the way, avoid a truly bad situation whatever... she responds immediately... You're not going to get that with those BS34's....

New game plan, 1075cc, GPZ-1100 cams, new rebuilt & ported head by Larry , rebuild the CR's.... OH YEAH, now were talking!....

As for elevation changes, all I do is pull out my screw driver & lean out the pilots a tad (1/8th to 1/4 turn), takes what a whole 30 seconds to adjust.... All good to go when up the hill...

Your build do what you want but just think about this for a second before making your final decision...
You're put in a tremndous amount of time and money into this build no doubt, truly get it been there so what's a tad more into it... ;)
Sell the RS 34's and the original 26's you had on Craig's List/e-bay... Should bring in close to the CR 29/31 price.

Another thing to think about.... Where's the air box going to fit in your build....?
Whole slew of posts on BS34's and pods not working out... :pinch:

Anyhoot... Can't wait to hook up for a ride with you, luv to see this gorgeous build...

OMR

No offense taken OMR, quite the opposite., I truly appreciate the feedback.

As for the BS34's they are already purchased and the K&N stage 3 kit is purchase, carbs have been ultrasonically cleaned. There is nothing left to do other than install the kit and try them on the bike. If I don't like them then I will most likely buy some CR31's. I do have the 1075 kit, I ported and blended the head a bit and am running Andrew's 1X cams.

Due to the front end I chose to use I have to spend a bunch of money on a custom triple tree sp these cars will have to do for now. I will let you know if I owe you that Dr. Prepper or not.

I was actually looking at Microsquirt. May be something I try at another time. For now I want to get it on the road and enjoy it a bit. I have to agree with the cheap pods comment. I am running velocity stacks with filter covers so I should not have that issue.

2 inches of clearance under the header. I have already scrapped the header on shake down run.

I have discussed it with him. My brother thinks he can design a pair as well. We were discussing doing it right and making the upper and lower. That way we can put some offset in them and get some turning radius back and be able to use stock bearings. As for drop on the triple he was thinking 2".

What's the compressed travel on those forks? You don't want to be plowing the road on hard stopping.

I need to play with them. I have never had forks I could adjust. I just had them rebuilt. I am only 165lbs and when I push on the front end i barely move it. I probably need to adjust them a bit.

I'd undo the tops and see how far down they will go.

I have been under the impression that the long intake runners between the carbs and the cylinder head is what makes the 34 carbs somewhat sluggish. I think the 29/31 setup is good or smoothies as they can be expanded using jet changes to get just about any engine to run hard.

Got the BS 34's cleaned, rebuilt and Dynajet Stage 3 kits installed. Waiting on a new throttle cable and we will see how they do.
