Al- Really glad that the stator was a quick fix! Sounds like she's almost there :)

With the universal Koso knockoff- I contemplated those ones until I started to dig into them a bit more- the screens supposedly konk out after a season, and the tach pick up isn't accurate at all. $63 for something like that- you know it's going to be cheap.

Me too Devin.

The real Koso unit I have says Made in Taiwan right on the box and the instructions are written in something close to English. What's the likelihood it's the same thing as the $63 unit? They have to make some sort of profit at $63, however small that may be. But the pisser is you know Koso is pocketing a hell of a profit, if in fact they're the same units. Now maybe Koso owns the design and the intellectual property, and those $63 units are unlicensed copies. Maybe that website is going to take your $63 and send you a reject, or a gem that will work for years. Roll the dice I guess. I see lots of Koso units for sale in a similar price range and try to get the best deal. I see one $200 cheaper than the cheapest and I think, that can't be real.

Fully agreed. But, if you know a unit will work from a respected manufacturer, sometimes it's better to spend a few more $ to get a unit that will last with few (or no) issues backed with a good warranty.

I think I'm settling on an Acewell single pod unit, keeps things nice and clean.

I'm looking at an Acewell, too; call me K-Mart, but nobody bitches about Acewell ... and I can't afford a Koso at this point. But dang, they're nice! ;) Has anybody tried one of those Chinese knock-offs???

Thanks Testarossa, your build thread was definitely an inspiration. I shamelessly stole your tail light idea :silly: . I cut down the stock seat foam with a carving knife and a sander until I got the shape I liked then took it to a reputable motorcycle seat upholsterer. It's pretty comfy.

Thank you for the 90+ pages of reading pleasure on your build. Should be required reading for anyone doing a street fighter, along with many of the other well documented builds on this great forum.

So if I sent a pan with the foam to your upholsterer could he make a similar seat for me? What did you pay for his services?

Thanks for the kind words. I was reading about your license plate bracket. I don't know if you can see it in my pictures, but mine is angled back a fair amount. Straight up and down looked like it would hit the tire to me.

Keep your eyes peeled for some updates to my build thread. I just ordered a few goodies. Lets just say I didn't get a Koso or Acewell or a knockoff. Shiny bits and new electronic farkels are on the way.
