My dash arrived. So excited to bolt it up, but of course like everything else, the standard bracket doesn't work. Mostly because I made my own upper triple clamp and guessed where the bar clamps should be. But I don't think I would have used it anyways because it would have put the gauge way up above the bars.

So a little head scratching and mill work later and I'm liking where it sits. It's tucked in about flush with the top of the bar clamps. The supplied bracket for mounting the speed sensor doesn't seem to work with USD forks. Probably need to make my own bracket.

Devin, I bought it new. $270 from Amazon was the cheapest I could find. Makes it the most expensive part on the bike now.

They're expensive, but nice, units. I might just have to dish out for one...

Got a few of the last bits tidied up this weekend. Wired up the gage, yea :P

Machined a bracket to clamp the supplied bracket for the speedo hall effect sensor to the fender mount and tuck it up nicely behind the fender.

Machined some adapters to mount the blinkers.

On my 3rd set of mirrors I hate and can't see out of. Might try mounting the Emgo bar end mirrors again and run them under the bars. They're not great either because they're not convex.

Did some riding and the bog is only at 4000-4500 rpm, and/or 1/2 throttle. Raised the needles 1 clip position. Seems worse, a lot of hesitation now where before it was just a flat spot. I can power through it with a twist of the wrist. Lower the needles 1 position from where they were now? Could the flat spot have been from a rich condition with the needles?

Crap, I think my stator is dead or dying. Low voltage, around 20VAC, on one leg to the other two. Can't get any resistance on that leg so I'm surprised it even doles out any volts. Need to do some more checking before I call it dead, but I'm pretty sure. Might as well upgrade to the reg/rec combo while I'm at it. Only just get into the 13VDC range on the battery now at 5000rpm. No sense in doing any more carb tuning until this is straightened out.

Whoohoo, just saved my stator!! Had a broken wire. Now she's charging, AND took care of my tuning issues. She runs like a champ now, except at 0-1/8 throttle. I'm at 1/2 turn out on the air screws and she's almost good. I've read as little as 1/4 turn is all the 29's need. Seems a little flat just idling in 1st gear up to 2000 rpm. After that she takes off like a beast. At around 4000 rpm and up that Russ Collins pipe sounds like a trumpet. So cool.

Still have to sort out the mirrors. Need a new right rearset so I can actually use the rear brake, if ever. Either need a new tank strap or make a better method to hold the tank down. It slides back a little and rattles like crazy. And lastly, make new side cover badges that say BA1000 ;)
