For kicks, I rough cut out the rejected plug. Besides being red...and kinda flimsy... and not good, its not too bad:


After removing the gauge bezels on the top, I could see that there is nothing left of the opening, so those will be flushed over as well. Here is the plug after prepping the gauge openings:


I'm gonna work on my tank a bit and get it ready for body filler too, then I can do it all in one shot.

Cooooooool. Better be picking up the pace on my end.

And a smear of body filler to fill in the low spots in the gauge openings......


There will be a few applications of filler/spot putty. But once I get it finished out, the entire mold will get a sanding with 320 or 400 grit, then a coat of epoxy primer. There were some irregularities and scratches in the OEM dash from its numerous repairs that I do not want showing up in my finished mold. Now is the time to take care of those irregularities

I took a little time to play with my projects this week and decided to go back to the bolt in single shock thinking mode. Came up with these mounts.









If all goes as planned I'll have the new swingarm to go with it in tomorrow evening. I'll post pics then.
