OK, so I traded a bunch of parts for a complete but slightly abused/neglected SR650 about a year ago...it was supose to be a parts bike. It already had its 650cc lump replaced with a 738cc E engine, I have another 750L3 that was in need of an engine so this bike was slated for stripping from the start...HOW THINGS CHANGE :woohoo:
Here she is the day I picked her up...non-runnner, missing lots of bits and rather ratty....pic makes it look 100% better than it actually was LOL.
So I recently decided to build a 810cc 750L3, so proceeded to rob this 650 of it`s Wolf 4-1 for my BIG project.
But upon taking it apart I got all fuzzy, and sort of felt sorry for this SR that I was scrounging from. Next thing I know I`m stripping the tank, repainted with rattle cans ( turned out better than expected ) dug out a set of signals from another bin, 750L4 shocks were in that box too so on they went. Superbike bars from another corner of the shop, new master, rebuilt calipers, new pads, new speedo cable. Wolf pipe was slated for my other build so on went my spare pipe ( Muzzy stainless set up )
So next on the list is a Dyna 111, and Accel coils and 8.8 wires I have sittin here in another box of goodies. Oh and I think I`ve got a K&N filter kickin around too.
Got a set of unbroken sidecovers coming in the mail too, so I`ll paint them when they show up. Few more things planned as well ( 750L sprocket cover, linkage shifter, pegs etc )...but anyway, here she is as of this mornning.
Whatcha guy`s think, was she worth saving Oh and I`ve also owned this bike twice now, sold to my father, but then he bought a Nighthawk S, so I ended up with this one AGAIN...it`s like the CAT CAME BACK THE VERYYYYYY.....ahhh you get it

Definitly worth saving.
Although with the other bikes in your garage, someones going to be neglected.

Thanks guy's.
It was rather inexpensive to get it to this point, I had everything in boxes sittin around from other projects, including the calipers/lines....was going to use GPz calipers but I didnt have a new set of pads for them. Only had to buy the sidecovers, an oil filter, and the speedo cable.
Hope to get it out for a maiden voyage this week....before the SNOW

Well damn it, this mornning after physio I wandered out to find the Dyna 111 and Accel coils. So as any smart ( Ok I'm not smart ) guy would do I tested the coils before I started the install, grabbed the DVOM and tested the first coil, 3ohms on the primary, 11ohms on the secondary....next coil 3ohms on the primary and a BIG open on the secondary. Well shit, good job the stock iggy is in fine working order.
In my younger days I would have had everything installed, then be pissed cuz something was NFG....AAHHHHH how age increases wisdom....or something like that

The quick project has turned into a winter project
The ZX636 front end isnt staying, I have a 94 GSXR1100 front end going on, I'll post up pics with the Gixxer front soon. Tracker tail is only on there to cover up the frame rails, was hard to get an idea how it would look with a seat so stuck this on.
I have a 750L3 tank that looks pretty bitchin on it, tthink I'll go with it and an H2R seat, and an early Gixxer upper fairing ( Or a Team Hammer fairing from Airtech ) Have a Koso gauge set, LED Edge 11 DRC tailight, DRC signals, Bajadesign switchgear. Will use a dual 4" streetfighter headlight with or without a fairing.
CBR929 rearsets ( just tacked for mockup...I'll be raising them a bit still before I weld on a bracket )
HD narrowglide front hub and ZX9 disks pictured but with the Gixxer front I'll be using a KZ750-1000 front hub, laced to an Excel rim, rear KZ1000 hub will be laced to an excel as well. It was cheaper to go spokes than widen a set of 18" cast wheels...but if I sell a few things, I may still have a set of mags done.
Ive started to detab and clean up the frame, lots of unnecessary crap on these old girls

My GSXR front end showed up today, and I ordered an H2R tail for it today as well. The seat is being made by a VRRA member here in Ontario, I should have it in a couple weeks.
I'll mock up the Gixxer forks tomorrow and continue cleaning up the frame and mounting the rearsets.
I have to figure out what I'm using for a swingarm yet, I'm going with an 18x4.25 rear rim so the stock swingarm is too narrow and the ZRX1100 would be overkill. Got an eye out for a Zephyr swingarm....anyone out there got a line on one ? I've got a ton of stuff to trade or cash.

I would give this thing ELR colors. I think it would make it look really trick and throw Kawasaki people for a loop. Will you put in a KZ550 six speed tranny? I would send my cams in to WEB and have them redone for better lift and timing, since you are putting this much time and money into it.

Oh dont get me going on the 6 spd conversion Otto....I've got a GPz550 sittin here doing nothing LOL. But hey I'm pulling the engine to put a 750L3 pan on it so I can run an oil cooler sooooo its already part way there LOL.
I have a head sittin on the bench too, a die grinder with lots of burrs and sanding rolls, never tried porting so I'm a little nervous about screwing it up. GPz cams are here as well. I'm an 810 kit and a gasket set away....maybe next winter I'll build an engine for it. This 750E runs real nice as is.
I've got a shit load of 650/750 parts, it's almost scary, I gotta stop buying and start selling some of this extra stuff off.
As for colours, I was thinking Black with Green and White ELR stripes, like the Black Momba GPz.

Nice build Barry! I should have had a look in person before I left the other day!
All I have is a swingarm to build around, so I'd guess mine will take a few twists and turns before it turns a wheel!
