Nice job. keep it up. I just got a 81 750LTD project, and am daunted at the moment, not knowing where to start. Got a manual, am thumbing through it......

If the carbs are still off you may want to pick up a new set of carb holders. Your originals will be hard which will make it difficult to replace the carbs PLUS they will more than likely cause vacuum leaks that will make the engine run poorly. Also, the clip you're missing is probably still available at the dealer. Check the parts diagrams at Kawasaki.com to see if it's still active. Ed

650ed I had thought of the carb mounts and I will be ordering them . I am making this as " Like New " as I can so I will not have to tar back into it for some time . The local Kawasaki store looked up and could not even look it up . I can get the valve and clips from Z1 . I only need 1 but I have to buy 6 but it will work .

I made the clip I needed . It is made from a spring from an old pen . I installed the clip tonight and it works like a charm . I will be putting the carbs back on . I will be ordering the carb mounts but I will use the ones that are on it so I can get this thing started . I have never had this bike running . This will put me back where I was 2 months ago . I can not see anything that will stop it from starting . I can not what to just here that old kz just start .

I made it out to my garage today and bench tested the carbs before I will install them and I am happy I did . 1 and 4 leaked gas . The needle valve was stuck on 4 so I removed it and cleaned it again and the seat . It works nice and smooth . 1 just needed the float adjusted . I removed the petcock and the level sending unit and started to remove the rust out of the tank . It is not rusted bad but why not do it now and get it done with ? The tank should be done by Friday and the carbs are sitting in place waiting for me to hook them up . Friday will be a good day to get everything back together and try to fire it for the second time . IT IS GETTING THERE !!!

Yes . They are a bunch of kids that do not know anything . If I need anything I go online and look it up then take the part number to them to see if they have it or if I need to order it . They can not believe that something that old is still around . Young dumb kids .

Well I got the carbs back on the clean tank in on also . I went to start it and it popped several times like it wonted to start but just would not . So I got out the starting fluid and gave her some . It started for about 1 min. and shut down during that min. it would take throttle . So I gave it another try with some starter fluid and the same thing . I felt the header pipes and cylinder 1 and 2 was hot but cylinders 3 and 4 was cold . I am thinking that I have a bad coil on that side bank . But It is better than I had before . I have the old 80 kz440 ltd that the coil looks really close so I am thinking of giving it a try . It will have to hold off till Sunday .

I was just rethinking this and I see what you are saying and I did replace the plugs on that side and had problems with the resistor cap staying on on 4 and the wires look like the came over on the MayFlower . If I am not mistaken They look to be 7 mm. wires . Please care-ct me if I am wrong but I should be able to get any DIY auto kit and use the wires out of those and just cut them down .
