I have posted this in another place on the forum but I thought I would try here also . I have a 1982 kz750 ltd that I picked up this summer and I am trying to get it on the road for next spring . This thing is missing some parts . I do have a 1980 kz440 ltd parts bike that I can get some of them off of . My question is . The 750 is missing the brake caliper off of the left side . I already tried the 440's and it will bolt up to the fork and looks to be ok with the rotor . The pads look to almost the same size but the 750's is square and the 440's are round as long as I use the right pads for the right caliper would this work ? I should say I am working with a small budget that is why I am not just buying a new caliper but if I have to I will . Any help would be appreciated .

Thanks
Mike

Just an up date . I have not done much to the old girl . I have been sick . :X I started to look for some guys to meet around my area to ride with and get advise . I found a rider forum in my area . I would post it but I do not like to advertise forums on other forums . Just out of respect . They are a bunch of good guys . I started to do some home work on what I need for inspection . One of the things I need is rear grab bars . I am getting the grab bars this sat :woohoo: it comes with the rear rack and sissy bar and back rest . A guy I ran into at the other forum picked up a twin of mine and it had the bars on it and he gave me them . Some people just do not like the tall sissy bars . I still have to button up the wiring harness and start to put everything back together . I had a hard time making up my mind with the handle bars . The set off of the 440 did not fit quite right but with a hammer and a punch I fixed it .

I got the wiring done the fuse box is shot and all of the grounds where fried . I started to put her back together and she is looking like a bike again . The sissy bar cleaned up like a shiny penny and it is installed . Sorry no pics. yet . I will be going out tomorrow . I will take my cam . out and get some . I will put the pics side by side so you can see the difference . With the weather getting so cold working on the old girl is slowing down . I forgot I looked at that old 80 440 LTD and the fuse box was the same so that is one less thing that the old 440 has . I put the handle bars from the 750 on to the 440 it looks like a drag bike . I just needed something so I can move the thing out of my way but it does look cool .

Thanks freebyrd24 . I feels like it is taking for ever but I have to say I do not have much money in this bike yet . It is just stuff I have in my gauge laying around . Today nothing happened with the bike . I was to busy with the snow that got dumped on use last night and it looks like the same tomorrow . Buy tomorrow we should have around 19 inches of snow in 2 days and they are calling for more Sat. and Sunday . I live near the bottom of the snow belt in PA . I am happy I do not live north word . I hope I can get out and get some more pics of the bike in between blowing snow .

Can not tell to much but the old kz750 is getting closer to being done . To day I got my self together and got to work . All the wiring is done front brakes are done everything is buttoned up and adjusted . I orders the starter and cover off of Ebay and got the cover 2 days ago and waiting for the starter . I will be getting a battery on Wednesday . I have full confidence it should start . I have gone step buy step with a manual . I will have to do a lot of cleaning to it ( chrome and what not ) but I just wont to get her running and ready for inspection . I will have to pick up a set of brake pads for the front , a tire for the front , left front foot peg ,air cleaner cover and filters . The list is getting smaller . Here is a pic of her .

Don't worry about taking too long...a lot of guys have worked years to get bikes ready. Embarrassingly, I just started on my 3rd year of trying to get my kz900 running, but fortunately I have my kz750 to ride while I'm working on it.

I remember when I got my 750 running, I'd worked all winter on wiring, forks, brakes, and carbs. Went to start it and ....nothing. I was so disappointed until I remembered that you have to hold the clutch in while starting. Then it fired right up!

Good luck!
