bead the thing, but polish the outside nice. The whole cover getting polished is a bit of overkill. It's insane to keep clean..

here is mock up (just pinned in place for a picture)on the VM33..now i see why they are the wrong set up for my head...the throats are as wide as the meat on the intake ports..it actually steps down once the carb hits the intake port...oh well live and learn.i only paid 300 for em and they can go on my KZ1000J project next... i also had to put J model boots on the intake and only had a few extra i could dig up so tomorrow i gotta rob two boots off that 1000J to finish mounting the 33's to the MKII head..i'll try em before giving up...never got to the coils -clearences valves-or the header yet.....peace craig

Good to see the progress.
I'm not sure i get what u are saying about the carbs?
is the intake side of the carbs smaller than the ports?

ok.... i just went down and measured the inner dia of the VM33..guess what? it's 33mm...and the inner dia of the MKII intake port ...it is 29mm....as close as i can tell..so that means there is 2mm on the circumfrence protruding in on each side which equals 4mm total blockage but really only 2mm as it forms a circle?? i'll try em since i've gone this far and really am in uncharted craig waters the p.o of 33's said they were on a stock 80 kz1000 with pods a kerker and 120's and 17.5 and he was pretty cool so i have no reason to doubt him.....i can always rob my 29's from the kz900 later untill i score a set or run the 28's when cleaned.

here are questions in simple form for anyone willing to chime in

can i install my extra dyna III instead of the points..and run it without any major tech skills needed..

i always have had a dyna S since returning to bikes 4 yrs ago...which is a tad more simple imo...

or....can i just run the dyna coils with my points and condenser set up for now so i'm not changing all things at once and know it'll run??
then buy a dyna s later this month or so...

picture for larry...sax as far as i can tell all 79's had elec ign....am i wrong...maybe the guy had a problem and someone had an old breaker set lying around...???
i know 0000000.0 about cyle elecs and figure this why the ignitor was half plugged half hanging....

anyways the manual shows that it's not stock..thanks larry for input...

i am about ready to install the carbs box it up for a week and just go for a ride today....

the cam breather block off need four 2 3/4 6x1 allens and yesterday i could only get the shorter inner ones...so there is some shopping to do before it's turn key and see anyhow

Here's a link to the Dyna III installation instructions.
Needs at least 3 ohm coils.
Reportedly equals Dyna-S performance.

Yeah Tri! I likes the tarozzis. As far as I know the 80 ltds got electronic igntion. My 79 was bone stock virgin material at 5k miles when I bought it. Points and sealed beam headlight. Mk II I don't know. But if someone had electronic all things being equal why would they bother to install points. A move in the wrong direction. NIce ignition you gots there. Bully! Oh yeah polish the outsides. Not the whole cover for sure. Keep at it. Ignition installs are cake baby. Just read the Instruciones

So day four.... not in a row....but my fourth day of continuos forward movement on my MKII tribute build.....can't leave the bike and tools set up between time off and work weeks..and my current shop is a low ceiling ...so ....this outdoor set up is my plan for now..barn spot soon....so it takes my A.D.D ass a few hours to set everything back up...think the fisher king meets rainman and then , meets lenny from "of mice and men"...and that is a decent picture of me trying to lay out a work area....takes about half a day as i get distracted and sidetracked by my genius... .

anyone know where this wire coming from the ignitor was supposed to meet up....

black/blue goes to one pick up coil on ignition,red/yellow goes to other pick up coil.
black and green each go to one of your coils under tank B)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.
