I must say, the engine looks sharp. When are you planning to have it back to gether? B)

alright now sand down those damn fins! B)

That's funny - I've been debating about doing that myself. They are sanded down stock but I'm a little afraid to mess up my freshly painted motor. Do you plan on sanding those down Tri?

yes i plan on making it look like the stock MKII...

on my 900 i used a carpenters trick...i'll post a pic tomorrow of my sanding/reducing blocks...but basically i have some 3/4" pine and trim it to be the exact size to stretch a sanding belt super tight so it cant rotate or move...so it has a fight to get the block in the belt almost...i have a bunch of em..from 80 grit to 180...they are for taking some good passes to a project...
since i had one handy one day after touching up the black on my 900...i just grabbed it and went to town...it gave a perfect effect in seconds.....flawless...then i did a finer grit block and it is perfect 2 yrs later....

the block of wood allows the sand paper to not deform or groove in a varied direction...it gives a clean 90 degree flat match to all fins....

thanks for the motor pic too 79 i'll use it too

i am really enjoying working on it and that is rare for me...i usualy prefer to leave things alone and not mess with em unless they break...and if they break too often then they gotta go....honda civic like... is how i set the bar for my possesions...if it works and is reliable like a civic...then it is worth keeping..if not then it is a joke and junk imo....like my 34 yr old 900 motor that i ride all the time and went 120 on today and often.....
this bike is going to be a build with a set finished product...and other than to see if it runs and what needs messing with...it will not be "back together" so to say until it has most of the visual markers and copy cat colors and decals...i would say a date or month...but as said..i am actually for the first time in my life am enjoying working on a vehicle...enjoying turning down the valve cover nuts in a staggered order...by hand ...slow...doing nicer work...not short cutting...using the wrenches as a self meditation exercise...i get this when i build with wood...but never before on a wrenching deal...and i think it's because i have destination for the Black beauty MKII tributes final look and feel... in my mind..and i'm not "needing"it to run..i can ride my bike and make this a specail deal....
If this goes well and i can show some apptitude on it by completion,,,,it should be a good sign for the z-1 and kz-j i have sidelined.....

i could kiss you (he is a little shy).....but i won't(AHA, I knew it! Try Sex you bad boy).....good timing (he has diarhea or he would let you have it all day long) ...i got sidetracked again ......don't acted suprised (tri was turd punching).. (gay boy laugh)

walked into the garden and few new artichoke plants later the times ticking away ...using a wire cage today in the ground...we watched our last try at a artichoke wiggle and sink one evening like a bugs bunny cartoon....argh...golphers......anyhow...dug a hole this time and inserted a 16x 16 wire bucket.....
(just don't get any ideas about them Tri. They are not gerbils dude. You will end up in the emergency room if you are not careful with that shit you do. Gophers are much bigger than gerbils.

then i got sidetracked on painting the rusty exhuast(yup he plays the rusty trombone err) finned collers...for now.....aluminum ones brand new $$$$$ around here somewhere???? :S

then...  i decided i wanna detail---tape off-- and mask all the nuts and polished stuff- -- spray the block/casses/breahter and stuff.......while the header/carbs coils and stuff are cleared out...

but while taping i heard john prine playing a 4th of july song...the great comprimise...and wanted to post it.....(yup, he has compromised a lot of bungholes in his time)

so you see....i'm better at riding (he is a brokeback cowboy, of course he's good at riding these things) these things than building em....:woohoo:

now i can't i remember why i came in the house to begin with.......oh wellllll (here is a little reminder, you were trying on your girls pantyhose again?)  Just ridem cowboy

I always used to think they were, but I've since found out that soooo many parts are different, so the front fender might be different too. Forks are a different size, has different wheels and discs, all bodywork is different, seat is different, gauges are different, etc, etc, etc...

man it looks almost identical sitting there except the hole for the speedo router wire loop.....i'm sure it's to good to be true....

on a related but side note......

is there a history of z-1 kz fenders being fixable...i am not up on stuff but did they not used to fix all the 50's and 60's cars big chrome fenders when they got a ding....

i have two z-1's and now a MKII that need a complete fix...call a body aand fender shop and ask????

i know it would be expensive but why not...if it comes out great then it is the same as buying reproduction ones right?????
