Looks like u had a great day tri.
I had a set of vm33's on my 1135 build. they work pritty good. the thing with them is that if u go wot fast at low rpms they will bog for a second then take off. this is very common when u add bigger carbs .the vacuum signal gets weaker at low rpms as u increase the throats diameter. there is always pros and cons. the pro, is that they perform better at higher rpm's. the flat spot isnt really a problem though. when u want to go fast u never wack the throttle at low rpms anyways. u would normally hit it when the rpms are up, so u never have a problem. it is more of a perception, that these carbs are bad, than a reality.i think they really got a bad rap because people dont get them set up right, and accentuate there week spot.
this is why the manufacturers all went to vacuum operated slides. they knew they would be better off with a bigger throat, but could not have customers complaining when they open the throttle too quick.the vacuum slides dont allow u to open the throttle fast enough, so the vac signal never gets too low to pull fuel.
Larry C has them on his bike now, so they cant be too bad, can they.

so i got the shop separated halway and put all my semi retired carpenters stuff in a garden shed...makes more room for bikes...it's still a mess and all the wrenches and fluids and parts are all in mis matched piles....too anal to stop untill it's all in its exact drawer so tomorrow is gonna be more cleaning and organizing.....managed to get the bike re-benched and dragged out the parts install goodies and a few clean headers to see what looks good for now...few pics as it sits now waiting for sunrise and a little tool and shop org to get going...hope to have the pipe-oil and filter-plugs and valves checked...maybe get to the carbs and rearsets too...still have monday off too...
