Z1000R and Z1000J - Lots of pics, and Gun-Kote oven baked paint.

sound great(churches in daytime and bikes at night)!i also have a gs swinger,i got for my 1980 z1r.but i am building my own swingarm to house a 6.5in.wide r1 wheel,200mm tire.what equipment are you using to spray your parts with?they are coming along nicely.

i just looked back at your post and seen the spray gun.is that what you are using on all of your spraying?

Yes, thats the gun, a cheap small spray gun, and an small oil free air compressor.

And its no use to precoat when you use Gun-Kote.
Only K-Phos on steel/solid metal. Dip or spray.
It soaks in and dries in minutes.

Just preheat and paint.
But its very thin layers, so it need to be good preparation before paint.

Thats all.

I am not sure about what to do with the GS swing, if i should use Gun-Kote, or just polish it.
I think it will end up painted
And if i should use the Hayabusa swing... which bike, the 1000J, or the 1000R...hmmm

Ive been a little busy with some other stuff these days, but some have been done.
I want to clean out most of the parts, and put the parts that i don't need away on the attic, because i need all the space i can get.
So its a little confusing and not logical way to do things in the beginning, seems that i doing all things at the same time.

So now i have started on the 1000R engine;

It looks really scruffy. The plan is to use the crankshaft, gearbox, etc, in...

These one;

This engine halfs is gone to be Gun-Kote gloss black, and become the engine for the Z1000R.

Oki, today i have realized something.

The plan to use the 1000J engine as is this season is not a good idea.

Because of my total detail control obsession :evil:

This is cylinder and head, looking not so good.


My plan was to use this;

On the 1000J engine for a little while. Maybe out this season.



But i realize that this finish will never be like i wish and like, compared to the finish Gun-Kote will make.

This is useless for me.


So i will tear down this 1100cc engine totally, and use Gun-Kote as a paint. Beside this, i will of course do a total service on the engine and head, also new valve springs since i cant imagine that they will be in perfect order, some of them been compressed for many years.

So, since i need new ones, should i just use heavy duty APE VALVE SPRINGS and will these fit?
Any suggestions please?
