RoyNor,

It is -10 C today in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. My Kz550 has not seen the light of day since November 19th. Please continue to post your work. It makes the days pass a little easier.

RayNor I love your attention to detail so early in your work. Not to mention your documentation is wonderful. When work picks back up and I have the money, it will be time for me to follow you lead! Keep up the great work!!

Thank you boys!
I promise to take lots of pictures:laugh:

I have started to tear down the 1100cc engine which i planned not to do just now. But ok.

After wash, almost ready for blasting.

Ready to take out the valves etc.

Valvespring compressor. Slightly modified.

Valve on the way out.

Blasting, takes some time to do this.

And now a warning from the safety department:

The hoodman says; use SAFETY GEAR!!! :P (yes, im smiling to the camera, cant you see that)

I bought some used 36mm Mikuni s, and 4 KN pods.

So, i don't want the chrome finish, i want some color finish!

To remove the end cap, just heat it up on maximum heat for 10-15 seconds.

Just press the pod up, while the screwdriver keeps the cap down, and the cap is off.

The end cap is ready to be blasted and coated with a nice color. (still a secret) :woohoo:

The next days will only be sandblasting for me, ive ordered some more Gun-Kote paint, and this nice secret :silly: color for the pods and the Mikuni.

Ohhhh man I'm jealous! It's so much fun to open up one of these things for the first time and get a chance to clean out all that gunk...

I don't know about other people, but I actually enjoy media blasting. I need to get a cabinet so I'm not forced to use other people's...

By the way, I've seen Rush in concert five times. ;)

guitargeek:

Aaah, Rush, they played i Norway for the second time ever last year, first time was back in 1979...
And of course, i was there last year:woohoo:

As for the blasting cabinet, be prepared to take some sealant on the inside on every joint and corner, because these cheap cabinet's are leaking dust out...lots!
If you buy a cheap one then... but otherwise its ok.

Now i finally have managed to actually make the cabinet dustproof.

You do have a vacuum attached to the cabinet for dust collection, don't you? Without the vacuum, it gets pretty hard to see what you're doing...

No, not yet, the plan was to install a pipe and fan, and throw it out on the outside.
But after i installed more light in there, its easier to see what im doing.:)
